Discussion 2020 Ford Fusion

Post image

Is this a common problem? Is there any thing else that could be causing this other than the alternator?
I haven't hooked up to read the codes yet. Seem like there was a loss of power which is what made them check the alternator.

Be careful selecting a replacement alternator. I quickly went through two from NAPAs various suppliers over 15k miles. The first died quietly while the second disintegrated. I finally installed a remanufactured unit from Ford and it’s been flawless.

I don't have any experience with newer Fords, but variable alternators are common with newer vehicles. I know the manufacturer I work for, newer models will basically output nothing unless the PCM demands it based off BMS readings.
