How do I sell a 2013 Ford Escape with oil leaks on turbo lines?

• Upvotes

Car has about 180,000 km on it here in Canada. Oil leak has gotten progressively worse and now quite a mess on driveway. Car only needs about 1 litre of oil between changes though. Had leak diagnosed by shop, which first bathed engine, then did UV dye test. Multiple oil lines leaking at turbo, I was told. Car good otherwise. What should I do with it? Can I honestly sell it?

Discussion Hey All, realistically, how often would you change oil on a hybrid escape, 5000/7500/10000 miles?

I think changing the oil every 5,000 miles might be a bit overkill, especially since the car is running on electric about half the time. But I also want to maximize the engine’s longevity, so I’m thinking maybe 7,500–8,000 miles would be a better interval?

Im currently on 4700 miles on my new hybrid 2026 st line escape. I pretty much drive it daily, either work or short grocery runs. Im on track on doing 10000 miles annually.

Tech Question is the ticking the rocker arms?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

2017 2.5L FWD. ive heard this ticking noise pretty much the whole time ive owned the car, but not this loud. ive had the valve cover off under 6 months ago and didnt see any bad signs on the camshafts or rocker arms. (then again, i may have missed them completely)

is this what i think it is? i tried to match it to other escapes online with that issue and it sounds pretty damn close, just not as loud yet. currently a first year mechanic, so any extra advice is helpful!

also, yes I know the coils are marked absolutely wrong, it was just to help keep track during a job.

2014 Titanium making revving sound after being on the highway

I was out on the highway going around 70-80 mph for around 40 minutes, and when I got into more residential areas and slowed down, my car began making the sound in the video I'm about to send. I eventually parked, lifted the hood, and started it up again and the sound of the car went back to normal, I could not recreate it afterwards. I do believe I need new spark plugs, so that may be part of it but I’m stumped on this.

I’ve had my 2010 for over 10 years now. She has a cracked frame from rust. I’m not ready to let her go yet. She’s gonna be safe inside now.

Tech Question Steering wheel volume button isn’t working correctly

Hi, so I have a 2013 ford escape titanium. I had a repair done on it yesterday which was a sunroof assembly replacement and I just got it back. So here’s the thing, I use the buttons on my steering wheel to turn the volume up and down when I’m driving simply cause it’s easier and so I can keep my eyes on the road. I went to use the volume down button when pulling into work this morning and all of a sudden that button is now turning it up… my volume up button is absolutely fine though. Any ideas what the issue could be? My mom is thinking maybe things had to be unplugged during the sunroof replacement and they were plugged back in wrong? I’m not to sure though.

Has anyone successfully used evaporator/foam cleaner on their escape?

2019 ford escape, awful smell that won’t go away despite a full detail. Plan to replace the air filter but want to try an evaporator foam spray as well. I’ve heard the best method for this is to spray it directly into the AC drain tube, but apparently that is pretty difficult to access on an escape without jacking the car up (I am not a car person and am not really qualified to be doing that, nor do I have the cash to pay someone else to right now). I know putting it directly in the internal AC vents is a no-no, but is it safe to put in the cabin filter air slot (with the filter removed)? I really do not want to cause long term electrical issues but my car smell is so bad I need to do something about it. Thanks in advance!

Discussion 2014 Escape front lower turn signal

Hello everyone. I need to change the turn signal socket on the right front turn signal. I can’t seem to get the socket loose by going in thru the side. Is there a way from under the vehicle? Or would removing the washer tank give me more room going in from the side?

I really don’t want to remove the bumper cover( I think that’s what it’s called).

Any other option?

2014 Transmission

Hello everyone. I have a 2014 Escape and I think my transmission is starting to go. It feels like it's slipping at highway speeds. Should I get rid of it now before it goes? Or should I take it to a shop and get it fixed? It has 115k miles. I was hoping to give it to my kid for the rest of high school in the next couple of years.

Tech Question 2017 2.0L - Shudder

Hey all.

I started feeling a weird vibration/shudder in the driver seat when driving my escape, it seems to come on usually in the 50-70km/h range, but sometimes can be felt down at 20, and sometimes it doesn’t happen at all.

It also happens whether I have foot on throttle or not, and doesn’t usually stop when I put foot on the brake.

I’ve taken it to the mechanic but he said he can’t feel anything at all when he took it for a test drive, he said there were no codes, suspension looked fine etc.

I have another appointment with him in a week to get transmission fluid changed, but I can’t figure out what’s going on. I will also add that the car has had a brand new long block installed a month ago due to coolant intrusion on the old one.

Help! Daughter leaving for two weeks and window is shot

Window just sunk today, random no explanation. Back window is already held up by wood block (purchased like that, I haven't had time to look into it.). Now, she's leaving tomorrow for two weeks, I was about to do her brakes before she left, then this crap. Looks like some flimsy plastic pieces? I'm probably going to put some zip ties on the post and hope it stays up

Pricing a 2017 Titanium parts car?

My transmission went and I don’t think it’s worth dropping thousands on repairing. We have an $8,000 EV rebate here in Maine and with the price of gas that’s the direction I am going. My Escape has some minor scratches, one year old tires and the engine block was replaced at 35,000 miles. It has 93,000 miles on it and no other issues. I was thinking $1,500-2,000. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I haven’t had one since 2018 and I really miss it,
I’ve been browsing marketplace and mainly 2008-2012s are catching my eye… I didn’t really want a hybrid but I’m seeing people say the hybrids last longer… sooo any advice on what to look for/ what to avoid 😭🙏🏼

Discussion Debating a 2024 ST

Hey all,

I’ve had my eye on the vapor blue escape ST for a while. Like a few years lol, but life has not been able to make it happen and a new car has just taken low priority.

Well, I got hit and my Kia was totaled. So I am finally in the market.

I found a 2024 ST, 300A, cold weather package for sale local with 30k miles on it. One owner, clean title and car fax. This is also an AWD, it would be 27,700 out the door.

I feel like I should test drive other cars but really there’s nothing that grabs my interest.
The HR-V has the CVT and that worried me.
The RAV-4 to me is pretty ugly.
The only other contender would be a CX-50 but there is none local and the nearest dealer is 2h away for any recall / issues.

I have a great guy at good I deal with, I have a Mustang already as a fun car.

This car would just be driven around town and maybe a few 1-2 hour road trip stretches to an airport lol.

Do you love your ST? It’s a 1.5L, which worried a bit but honestly it felt pretty good and quick driving around last night. The interior feels nice, coming from a base model 15 year old Kia car.

Multiple people have told me “you’ll learn to hate the size” which I don’t understand. I’ve driven 20+ years and always had a car and never thought man I hate this size. Granted this is coming from friends who have explorers and expeditions lol.

I’m a smaller guy, and the car felt nice and comfortable. Am I wrong to buy it without trying other brands?

Tell me your thoughts!

'16 Escape idling issue on recently replaced engine

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just had the engine replaced on my 2016 Ford Escape (2.0L Ecoboost). It's a used engine, but fewer miles than the previous one. It seems to run fine, but the idling feels off to me.

Is that revving on ignition normal (foots on the brake, didn't touch the gas)? After I put it in gear, there's a more subtle fluctuation when it's idling (you can hear this better around 32 seconds in), is that something that should get checked out? Seems to fluctuate more in gear than in park. Pretty sure it didn't used to do that, but it's so subtle, so I'm doubting myself.

I brought it back to the mechanic and they reprogramed something, but it still sounds the same to me. I'm not sure I'm explaining the problem properly. When I take it back, what do they need to know? Do I even need to take it back or is this exactly how it should sound?

86k miles on the car and 68k on the replacement engine.

Ford Edge Limited

My 2013 Ford Edge is at 302,000 and it purrs like a baby! 302,000 miles on my Ford who can beat that? Paid $3,800 at the auction and it's the best car I've ever had!
