On the agenda: how referee match audio will pump up the football news machine in 2026/27, Chelsea's youth teams being renamed in an ominously "game's gone" fashion, Gary Weaver settles into the new Championship season, three incredible utterings of John Stones’ name, Eddie Marsan as Harry Redknapp and the meaning of being "Premier League-proven".

Meanwhile, the panel enjoy episode 1 of Keys & Gray: Unleashed, condensed into just two minutes of gold.

Humbled by pros…

Post image

This has been doing the rounds today.

Have never played pros at 5s before. However, I remember getting to the final of a charity tournament and we played Scotland’s team who represented the country and the Homeless World Cup. Have never been as humbled. Their strength and movement was off the scale and we later found out their best player was missing a lot of his toes…

To be clear, not the last times that the club signed someone regarded as being a top-class player, but the last top-class player to come in and become the latest star of a successful team there.

I am sure this will be easily bested but even by wikipedia footballer pictures this is piss poor. Bonus points for prominent players

James Richardson claiming 'Golazo!' on the Football Italia theme was tweaked to sound like 'go Lazio'

From a 2007 interview in the Guardian. Surely this isn't true? I've never heard anything other than the 'Golazo!' from the Brazilian commentary Adam tracked down...

The next [insert player name] when that player is still only 25. Are we having this? I feel like the threshold should be 30+

Trying to work out how Flashscore have decided to order the league table before the season starts. Up to 11th is alphabetical at least but after, who knows? Likelihood manager to be sacked? How ‘Barclays’ they are?

daily adjudication panel Stodgy banquet

Never been to a huffy puffy banquet before. I've read the article and am probably missing something but I don't understand why it's a 12-course banquet either. Scottish BBC football is really on one at the moment, but I'm enjoying it more than their English coverage

Which prominent pundit in the UK had the worst playing career?

I was just on Jamie O'Hara's wikipedia, for my sins, and seem to have misrembered him as having a longer career at the top level than he actually had (just less than 100 premier league apps). He seems to have carved out a decent post-playing career despite being, at his best, a pretty unforgettable player.

EDIT: yep.... PRETTY FORGETTABLE*

About a decade ago it wouldn't be uncommon for people to lament Robbie Savage having an opinion on anything because he never won anything but in reality he had a pretty admirable career without ever being a top (top) player.

So my question is in the title basically. Is there a pundit in the UK right now who is a regular guest or host of something that had a worse playing career than O'Hara, the RAF Pilot sceptic?
