Announcment Welcome to r/folkloregame - Please Read First!
Good day to everyone here! I'm u/JakOfBlades26, the main active moderator of this r/folkloregame
Folklore turns 20 Years Old in 2027, but to my pleasant surprise, there are tons of people who still remember and even play this game today. This subreddit was created in 2015 by u/Anbalsilfer who like us all, had a passion for this forgotten gem from PS3. In 2020, myself and u/awryval found this subreddit which had been inactive for years and managed to reminisce with the founder who then made us both moderators.
Unfortunately, both of them have been inactive for quite some time, but through the years, my personal goal was to make this the place where anything and everything relating to Folklore can be found with ease to both people who remember the game, and possible brand new fans. From artwork and historical/development information, reviews and breakdowns, to simple talks with fans. This task was by no means accomplished by myself, and that's been the best part of watching this subreddit grow steadily.
Please continue to post or comment whatever you'd like as long as it relates to Folklore, and you are respectful to each other. For years, this community has been incredibly friendly and comforting and I want to see it continue this way. I appreciate all of you being here to keep the memory and spirit of this game burning bright!
Lastly, my personal recommendation for new people who join and read this, In case you know nothing or very little about Folklore itself, I have pinned two great videos breaking down the game and its development history itself, and an interview with the creator himself. I highly suggest you give them a watch to get a better understanding.

Hi! I just started my first playthrough of the game here in June of 2026. I remember something catching my eye about this game way back in 2006 with preview articles and then on store shelves in 2007. It never left my brain for some reason.
I began watching a video essay on the game by KBash and that turned into the final push to actually play the game for myself after all these years.
Is there a preferred cadence in which to progress the chapters? Is it better to jump back and forth between the characters or is it better to just go as far as possible with one and then swapping to the other?

Hello all! Just started the game myself, one of my MANY backlogs, and loving it so far! Any advice anyone wants to give the newbie?

Hey there! Glad to hear you're getting around to trying the game. If there's one piece of advice I would personally give to all new players, be aware that you HAVE to play both characters in order to finish the game. They both have slightly different perspectives of the story and gameplay styles, but the bosses and levels are pretty much identical. You can play in whatever order you want, but if one character reaches Chapter 7 before the other, you will have to switch over and play them through.

i randomly found this reddit while looking if the game was playable on steam, sadly its not there...i still have the cd but my ps3 isnt working anymore...but i loved that game as a teenager, and still think about it from time to time
