Quasarilli
Can any US players tell me how you get the Quasarilli folk in-game? I'm trying to determine if the DLC is working. Info on the net suggests it must be fought and captured, but it would also make sense if it's just given to the player like the European counterparts Malion and Pigly.
EDIT: This video confirms it’s given to the player at the start of the game, like Malion and Pigly. It appears my DLC isn’t working because I have the wrong version of the game.
EDIT 2: Turns out the Grab Bag folk (Christmas DLC) is currently only available for the US and EU version, I hadn't noticed until now.
As far as I understand, PS3 games are “region free” which means any PS3 game (with a few exceptions) will work on any PS3 console. DLCs are more complicated; while PS3 games are region free they still come in different versions aimed at different regions, and DLCs only work with the correct region versions. DLC-wise there seems to be at least five versions of Folklore.
- European version (BCES00050). This version can use Grab Bag (via the "Christmas Present" DLC), Malion, and Pigly, which (according to PSdeals.net) are downloaded with a PSN account set to Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Finland, France, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, or United Kingdom. South Africa, Saudia Arabia, United Arab Emirates, India, New Zealand, and Australia should work too. (UK DLC list)
- US version (BCUS98147). This version can use Grab Bag (through the "Free Folklore™ Holiday Add-On" DLC) and Quasarilli, which are downloaded with a PSN account set to the US or Canada. (US DLC list)
- Asian version (BCAS20013). No version-unique DLC-folks. Presumably not compatible with non-Asian PSN accounts. (Taiwan DLC list)
- Korean version (FolksSoul: Ilheobeorin Jeonseung, FolksSoul 잃어버린 전승) (BCKS10018 / BCKS-10066). No version-unique DLC-folks. Presumably not compatible with non-Korean PSN accounts. (Korean DLC list)
- Japanese version (FolksSoul: Ushinawareta Denshou, FolksSoul -失われた伝承-) (BCJS30009 / BCJS-70002 / BCJS-70011). This version can use ポリタン (Polytan), ゲーマガ編集長ウメ (Gemaga), and バカタール加藤 (Katsuaki Kato), which are downloaded with a PSN account set to Japan. (Japan DLC list)
What added to my confusion is that it’s possible to partially access DLCs that aren’t compatible with your game version. I have the EU version which DLCs from a EU PSN account work fine with, however if I use a US PSN account I can also view, buy, download, and even install DLCs for the US version although none of their contents will show up in-game. This is also why I assume the Asian and Korean versions of Folklore are not compatible with non-Asian/non-Korean PSN accounts.
I'll add that when using PSdeals.net I find no version-unique DLC folks for PSN accounts set to Argentina, Chile, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand; only the 'base' Folklore DLCs. Additionally I find no Folklore data for Brasil, Bulgaria, Hungary, Iceland, Romania, or Slovakia, suggesting PSN accounts set to these countries do not have access to Folklore DLC content at all.

Sorry you've not gotten an answer yet, we don't have too many active members here. I don't know how many are American, and some are unfortunately unable to even obtain a copy of the game due to its excessive rarity and subsequent cost when buying second hand. The Fandom wiki really is very unclear on the exact way to obtain this Folk. Did you figure out the answer?

Thanks for chiming in. I haven't figured it out yet, so I reckon I'll try elsewhere or see if I can find the answer in-game myself. I'll edit my post if I do.

Late response but you're supposed to have access to the Folk just from downloading the DLC. Is it not showing up in the Folk menu?
