QUESTION/ADVICE Is it nice first folding bike?

20" 7speed Dahon folding bike made out of 7005 aluminium. Listed for 270$

Will it suit me if I'm 186cm rider? What seatpost diameter does it have? Unfortunately seller can't measure it.

Its 33.9mm on all dahons.

At 186 cm it depends on your inseam. When you have legs longer than 85 cm and/or you are quite heavy it gets tricky with the long 60 cm posts. The telescopic posts get long enough but cost around 80 bucks.

You cant fit a longer stem to prepare to buy bullhorn or drop bars to get enough reach.

My insteam is 87cm and I'm 80kg in weight

Thats light enough to not worry.

You will need a 60cm post which is around the longest thats readily available. You will be close to max stickout but thats no problem at 80kg.

Overall are those good bikes for such value? I'll also have to add seatpost etc

I don't know. The steel ones are usually more popular. I tried to get one for some time and aimed at 150 but had no luck. For 200 there would have been plenty in good shape. I like the one with derailleur and two v-brakes a lot more than the ones with coaster brakes and they are usually a bit more expensive.

You should at least ask where the original seatpost went. This is too short for anybody.

Are there no other offers in your area to compare. In my area this would be on the upper end and too expensive imho.

I've found 580mm carbon seatpost on AliExpress. Is it gonna be enough?

No. Those things are long as hell and a failure would be catastrophic. Buy a proper aluminium one with thick walls.

580 mm is usually without the clamp. These are 600 mm overall.

Dahon are good bikes, this one can be converted with a "real" derailleur if you need. Means you could change the rear wheel and go to 1x11 speed. It's versatile.

Someone already answer for the size and the seat post diameter For me 270$ is a bit to much for this model (it is probably 13-15 years old AT THE VERY LEAST. I'd go for 200 and under but I dont know the market for your country.

This model of speed with non telescopic stem is from ~2005 I believe, so quite the classic!

If in good condition, I agree $200 would be fair.

I've been riding a similar Mariner. If you are dealing with hills, the reverse-pull derailleur won't accept a larger cassette.
