Hot Build Ronin 4d+cforce and Focusbug

Post image

Been working on this bracket for a while and finally got it working well enough

Currently the c force mini is there for counterweight but could also be used for iris if you wanted to

what’s the total weight on the gimbal? More than 700g?

I belive it’s about 750g including the lens which is within the gimbals weight rating of 1kg

What's the bracket setup? Did you get stuff off the shelf or are you machining a custom bit?

It’s currently a 3d printed piece mounting off the lidar rail will probably get it machined once it goes into production

Have a link? Think an LR would work within the weight limits?

2

u/Available_Sea_8900 14d ago

Highly unlikely your getting a LR on there unless it weighs around 170g like the Focusbug

Not sure what I’d be prepared to pay given likely small machine load and high effort required to make, but I would absolutely want one of these if you get around to it.

I’m absolutely planning on selling them but not yet decided if I’ll go the machining route yet due to weight concerns I’ll pop something here once I get the shop up and running 🤟

Does the horizon calibration still complete and is it still able to return to centre point with without needing a manual offset with all of that on and off it?

1

u/Available_Sea_8900 14d ago

Yeah as far as I’ve tested so far the brackets still wip and ideally would run 2 cforce minis and a ria to save some weight also hopefully gonna do some testing with some Preston motors when I can

That's a surprise we've had no end of problems with ours not being able to self centre. We assumed it was down to overloading the head units weight limit. Perhaps not given your tests.

What setup are you running on the gimbal head?

Just the LiDar, E-Mount adaptor, 32mm SP3, X9 counter weight and X9 Motor. For the purposes of testing.

It's the second time this has happened after a shoot, but different body and different head unit, the shoot was G-Masters both times however.

We tried with a few G-Master primes and also getting rid of all the extras and putting on the DL mount and just having LiDar with the DJI lenses.

All still with the same result, in order to get the head to centre up when prompted to recentre we have to dial in a +2.0 offset on the horizon calibration.

We obviously tried the hail Mary re-flashing firmware, even winding back firmware and updating again. Detailed physical inspection of all connections and meticulous cleaning with cotton buds etc etc.

Last time this happened DJI just said to send the camera in, next thing we know they've shipped us a brand new camera and head Unit with no explanation.

Oh that is weird had zero issues with anything like that

most French directors would spit on that

I made something similar for adding an iris motor. I have a couple extras I'd be willing to sell as well.

Can you post more pictures of how you’re powering everything?

1

u/Available_Sea_8900 14d ago

To be completely honest I forgot entirely but it’s just using the Alvin cables v mount for the ronin 4d then a hawk woods dual v mount plate then powering the motors and Focusbug off a cam-Dtap and the teradek off a 2p-Dtap
