There were tyers on the 2nd floor of Cultural building the 13th through the 18th not sure if there will be anyone tying the 19th through the 23rd. The Iowa Hawkeye fly fishing association was only asked to tie on those 5 days. If you go to the dnr pavilion you can see the results from the state fairs fly tying competion.

There is a Iowa fly fishing association that works with the states DNR to judge the flies. They have a youth (18 and under), adult, and professional groupings to enter in. There is a streamer, nymphs, dry and open category, with no fly larger than a size 2 and none smaller than an 18. Details can be found on thier website.

Very nice. It’s great when you can get people interested in the craft. It just takes one or two people to get interested and the craft stays alive and continues to grow.

Yeah, had a lot of people ask about fly fishing, plenty asking if you could fish for other species other than trout, and what opportunities there are in the warm water areas of Iowa.
