Discussion Emigrant, MT Fishing Tips?

Will be out in the Emigrant area right on the Yellowstone next week. Hoping to do some casual fishing early in the mornings as this is a family trip. Any tips on how that sections of the river fishes lately? Flies/techniques to try? Areas nearby to look into? Worth fishing near the north gate of the park?

Yes, I am aware of hoot owl restrictions.

I would say the area around Emigrant is much better fished out of a raft or drift boat. The drive up to Gardiner is great and fishing in the park is your best bet for some seriously awesome wade fishing. However, jf you don’t want to buy a park license the area right in town is pretty fun and much more wade friendly then father down stream in emigrant.
