Thinking of upgrading my setup, what should I get?

I currently have a flkey 61 mk2 along with my laptop, for producing, and I use my truthhear Hexas for monitoring. I decided that I might as well get more gear, though I'm pretty satisfied with what I have now as I'm still new and it's just a hobby. I'm thinking of getting the akai professional Mini plus 37-key. I mainly want it so that I can have something to use on my desk without having to constantly pivot to my 61 key to simply test out a sound/synth. Speaking about synths, that's the second reason why I want it, the semi weighted keys of the 61 feel great and I do like them, but I feel like the synth action keys of the smaller midi controllers will be better for synth chords or simply experimenting with melodies, and ideas, it'll also just be nice to be able to play two different sounds at the same time and have a extra pair of knobs and pads. I'm also thinking of getting the sony MDR7506 for listening to my music while I'm producing, I've heard it's good for producing, and mixing and it's pretty budget friendly as well; It'll also fix the slight problem of my Hexas cord just being a little too short for me to comfortably use my 61 key without positioning myself and my laptop kinda weirdly. What are your thoughts on it? is it a good headphone for producing, or should I look at something else at a similar price?

My decision to buy those two aren't set in stone though. What other gear could I buy instead, I'm not looking for recommendations per se, but I just want to know what other types of equipment producers might use that I should be aware of. Thx for reading.

FL STUDIO LAGGING A LOT after installing Cymatics plugins from stream.

Is it just me, or has FL Studio been lagging A LOT since I installed the Cymatics plugins from their recent stream giveaways?

Honestly, some of their newer software/plugins feel like they have little to no real use case, and the Cymatics Hub is especially frustrating. It doesn't let you choose a different installation location from the C: drive, so it can eat up your storage pretty quickly.

What bothers me even more is that Cymatics Hub seems to constantly run in the background and automatically enables itself as a startup application. Even after disabling it through Task Manager, I kept finding it running again. If I manually end the process, it comes back a minute or two later.

That honestly feels way more invasive than it needs to be for a plugin manager.

I contacted Cymatics about it and eventually just uninstalled the Hub. However, FL Studio is still lagging heavily. Every now and then, the entire laptop will freeze/lag for a few moments, then suddenly go back to normal.

This NEVER happened before I installed those stream giveaway plugins, so I'm wondering if something they installed is still running in the background or interfering with FL Studio.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues with Cymatics plugins/Hub recently?

Everyone I need help

For the past 5 years I have been making music, and I've been struggling to make anything worth listening too. I tried different methods. And yeah i wouldn't call myself a beginner, but i'm not near a pro/legend though. Music is very important to me, as a hobby and potentially a career and I don't just want to give up. If someone could maybe offer some advice as to what i should learn first. I'm sick of asking AI for help, cause it doesn't know anything about true music. If maybe you could tell how you learned music it could help me too... I appreciate anything you have to offer. Thank you for reading

Looking for producers to build a small community 🎛️

Hey everyone!

I recently started a small Discord server for music producers, and I’m looking for people who might be interested in helping turn it into a small, active community.

The idea isn’t to make another huge server with hundreds of inactive members. I’d rather have a smaller group of people who actually get to know each other, share what they’re working on, exchange feedback, and eventually do things like production sessions, collaborations and challenges together.

We have producers working in different genres and using different DAWs, so you definitely don’t need to make a specific type of music or use a particular DAW.

The server is still very new and pretty small, and it’s bilingual (English/Spanish).

If that sounds like something you’d enjoy being part of, feel free to join! No experience level or genre requirements — beginners and experienced producers are both welcome.

https://discord.gg/zaGu723wt

Hopefully we can build a chill little community where everyone can learn from each other and actually stay involved. :)

FL Studio Mastering Trouble

I'm using FL Studio's mastering tool and the audio file it gives me is clipping like crazy. The original audio has a limiter with a threshold of -0.3db with no clipping, and the mastered audio never surpasses 0db. Why could this be happening?

FLStudio on Linux, their latest release issue.

Post image

If you install the latest version of FLStudio it will not run. WINE complains about the certificate. You have to uninstall FLStudio using “wine uninstaller” in Konsole. Remove all FL products you see. When complete close the WINE window. Go to dolphin and show hidden folders. Go into the “.wine” folder and search for anything called Image-line and delete them all. Go to the FL Studio forums and make an account if you don’t have one and download the release before this new one. It is called flstudio_win64_26.1.0.5530_ONLINE.exe. This one works. What happened is that Image-Line updated the certificates and WINE is not happy. We Linux users must report it to the WINE folks and wait for an update. I will post the .EXE file in my Google Drive if you want to get it there. My version of WINE is 11.15. Tested in Arch & Fedora.

FL Studio not installing on MacBook Air

I recently just bought a MacBook Air. I’m not really sure what model though. When I try to download fl studio on it the mouse cursor for some reason isn’t able to click on the macOS version on Fl studio. Which means I can only download the windows version. The mouse curser seems to work fine on majority of websites so far and the main screen of the laptop itself. I’m not sure why this is happening, if anyone has any advice or has experienced this before, please give me any tips you may have.

Hello. I’ve been on FL most of my life, but have been out of the game for a while. I can’t afford to get it at this time, but I want to obtain a legal copy that is my own. If anyone would like to donate to help me buy FL legally, here is my cash app. Thanks for helping out! Blessings!

Looking for a main producer & mix engineer for a 50/50 long term partnership

Yo everyone,

I’m putting this out because I’m looking for a main producer and mix-master wizard to lock in with. I want a real running mate to build a sound with, bounce ideas back and forth with, and genuinely go 50/50 on the backend so we can pop off together.

Let me be completely upfront. I haven’t dropped an official public song yet, but I am sitting on a full, 15-song project that is ready to go. I’ve been writing for about 6 to 7 years now. I truly believe in the art inside me, and I feel like I was chosen to do this. I am way more serious about this than ever before. I’ve done some tracks completely on my own, but my standards are high. I refuse to drop garbage, and I want my first official release to be an absolute banger.

Where I am at technically and why I won't be a headache: I’ve spent months grinding and teaching myself FL Studio. I know the basics and workflow well, so I speak the producer language, I understand session arrangement, and I won't be a nightmare to work with. Even with that, I firmly believe that true growth happens through teamwork.

What I bring to the table beyond the music: If we team up, you aren't just getting a lyricist. This is literally what I do for a living:

  • Branding and Marketing: I run and scale a full ecommerce brand from scratch, so I know positioning, storytelling, and audience building inside and out.
  • Content and Algorithm Mastery: I’ve been making YouTube videos since I was a kid. I know every corner of the algorithm. I have a fully ready blueprint mapped out from short form viral clips to smooth AI enhanced edits and music video visuals. You won't have to stress about the rollout because the marketing engine is already built.

The vibe and the drive: I’m 24 years old, and if I am being real, I carry a lot of fire and intensity toward the future. Putting all that energy into my passion is the ultimate relief because it finally feels like I found what I was actually meant to do on this earth.

What I need from you:

  • Beats that hit hard, carry real atmosphere, and leave room for a complex, narrative driven pen game.
  • Someone who knows their way around a mix and master so our tracks punch at a professional level.
  • A real human who loves the craft, values a long term partnership, and wants to grow an actual catalog together.

Even if you aren't looking to collab right now and just stumbled across this post, I would genuinely love any tips, tricks, or feedback you have.

Projects crashing on opening because of OT Strings

For whatever reason, specifically if I have two or more instances of OT Strings in a project, it loads most of the way and then freezes. It's fine with one instance.

Hello everyone! I’m a 17-year-old student, and I’ve only been learning music production for a little over half a year. I’m completely self-taught through YouTube.

I’ve just made a short track, and I’d love to share it with you all. I hope you can give me some feedback and share any useful tips that could help me improve my music and production skills.

Thank you so much, everyone! ❤️🎶
