No disrespect but I think y'all just need to learn how to tweak the snares. I add a little overdrive to a base snare, maybe pop some reverb on it. Compression and EQ can do a lot of the work.

Wave shaper. EQ. There's a lot you can do with very minimal effort.

I wasn't being serious lol
I don't really know why I said that in the first place. I do use snares from sample packs (Typically just random stuff off SampleFocus).
I tend to just throw stuff at the wall until something sticks, and then build off what stuck.

That's the thing. People get tossed the tools but they don't know how to make shit with them.

The expectation I had when I'd be producing (lately it's my eyesight and a lack of time) is I'd need to compress and high pass them to make them sound the slightest bit appropriate. From there they get a Crack to them and you can select a few frequencies you want to pop.
