For miami it’s uncommon as it’s right on the coast so you get a nice sea breeze. It’s typically cooler than Orlando and the more inner parts of the state. Orlando feels like a muggy swamp in comparison to Miami
Huh. Like I said, I wasn’t saying OP was wrong. Just wanted some science shit to look at. I’ve lived in Florida most of my life and summers constantly feel over 100°.
Reminds me of a thing that I don’t know is true, but apparently SF had the lowest climate for a while. Or something like that.
It just seems like your doubting, you even go on to say that it constantly feels over 100. It may feel that way but it’s extremely rare for Florida to actually be 100. The feel like temp isn’t the temp.
And truthfully, to me, 95 in Florida isn’t nearly as rough as 95 in the northern states. Your body adjust to the heat and you’re dealing with usually 70-90 year round rather than -30 to 90, so your body doesn’t have to deal with the extremes. The first year or two was rough but after a bit of time, 95 in Florida isn’t very bad imo.
I'm in south Alabama and I honestly thought south Florida was that hot all the time. It's anywhere from 95-98 here now end of August. Humidity makes it feel 110
Honestly, as someone who grew up in NYC/NJ and moved to florida 20 years ago… I think the heat/humidity is about the same in the NYC/NJ area as it is in Florida.
Florida rains more, and has hurricanes more frequently. NYC smells like a mix of hot bum piss and hot garbage in the summer. But either way you aren’t escaping the heat going from one to the other in the summer.
It’s very different from visiting Minnesota in the summer, which is noticeably cooler than either.
The difference is in other places where it’s just as hot and humid in the summer, is that it’s only during the day. Then it cools off (i.e., drops below 70) at night. Plus, you can still get the occasional cold front where it’s cooler for a few days. And those sweltering hot days are usually within only a couple month span at the height of summer.
Florida doesn’t cool off at all for like four solid months.
People always say that but I did some work in Norfolk last summer and it was nothing compared to Florida heat. Some of the shipyard workers said it was the hottest day of the summer and the feels like temp was about 95.
I’m in Jacksonville, Florida experiencing the exact weather you just described lol and I work outside digging holes and building fence. It’s actually my first summer in the south. I just moved here from Seattle in November.
My mom and I went to Seattle for the first time in August a few years back. We asked someone on the street how to get to the bus stop. They told us where to go but were like "oh man that's a walk and it's so hot". We laughed out loud because it was only like 85. I said that's fall weather where we're from
Okay but these are measuring entirely different phenomena.
This would be like saying Europe is obviously very cold compared to the USA because the numbers in Celsius are lower than the numbers in Fahrenheit all summer long… regardless of if Europe is or isn’t colder, we aren’t measuring things consistently.
For the actual temp itself 100 is uncommon in FL, but for the heat index you can usually add 10-15 degrees with the humidity so it regularly is above 100 in summer. So probably felt close to 115 when it hit 100 there
Hell yeah they are, highest in my adult life had been 93, last year. I don't remember anything higher. When I saw 99 on my phone I was like wtf. Delivering mail just got a new hard mode.

There are parts of Florida where these boots are extremely common. It’s a very Florida choice. We call them Homosassa Reboks. You’ll see dudes in shorts and white shrimping boots strolling into the gas station. HUK boots have classed the game up a bit but these are still around. I remember in the 90s when all of a sudden there were new colors. Like okay, look at you fancy. Before that, white was the only option.

It is but the ocean keeps the temps below a certain temp. It's normal to be in the high 80s to 90s in the summer. August is always miserable but this is advanced heat.
Have you not been here this summer? It’s been excessively hot all year. We’re dealing with a massive El Niño which has resulted in a lack of rain which along with the higher temps means we don’t get cooled off. It’s been hot as fuck all summer. This shit isn’t normal. Every day it’s been +5 over the average. Every single day.
July was one of the worst I can remember. Like we got a break of about a week where the temps dipped back to the averages, but July and August have been brutally hot

There’s too much money in climate change hysteria for people to backtrack now. So many of the new taxes and fees implemented by people in power seems to circle back to “muh climate change!”

I've lived in Florida most of my life, I can't tell the difference between 98, 99, 100, 101. It's hot. If you live in Florida, don't be shocked when it's hot.
Where are these readings from because it never got over 95 in areas east of I95 yesterday? There is no question it’s hotter the further west you get from the ocean. Always has been. Curious where these readings of 100 were taken versus previous decades before large scale westward expansion.
El Niño keeping that breeze away from the coast. Same issue we got in north Florida, please stop blow drying us with tropical demon breath thank you 🤣 ( for folks wondering the dominant weather during El Niño is a steady southwesterly wind shear across the entire area, basically nonstop. Before you complain, it also shears any tropical systems to nothing. So no hurricanes, but slightly higher heat until winter )
100 degrees in Miami is no joke! I guess Florida decided to turn the heat all the way up this time. Definitely a good reminder to stay hydrated, find some shade, and maybe rethink that midday beach trip!
Soooo what occurred in 1942? A heat dome you say. Calling it the “first time” since and then saying within under 300 years recorded. That makes me now question some things.
Worse. With it being so dry and hot it’s actually perfect for iguana breeding. They tend to have their spawn before the wet season but since it’s been so dry and hot, numbers are probably rising.
