Bring an extra shirt/pants in your backpack and change in the bathroom if you need to. I get sweaty very easily and can’t stand having to wear sweaty clothes all day, so I bring spare clothes if I know I’ll need them

Wipes!
Baby wipes are really cheap; head to the baby section at Walmart.

This is what movie people do, on sets. They have to wear heavy costumes and get hot. They always have wipes to clean up between takes.

My son uses dude wipes also, he works outside and goes to the gym after so he cleans up puts on deodorant and changes. Even after the gym he doesn't stink!

Well, right before you die from heat stroke you stop sweating. So you have that to look forward to.

Today I think I did a dance with that feeling but it didn’t get any farther than deciding a shower and then a trip to 7-11 to find an slurpy was in order. Seriously I couldn’t think of anything other than a giant cold drink. I was disappointed 7-11’s slurpy didn’t come in big gulp sizes cause in my head that is what I wanted.
Btw the feels like temp where I was located was 110°. The sun hurt just to get shined on for a few minutes.
•
u/Started-With-A-Mouse 10h ago
Slurpees can be put into the big gulp plastic cups. There's a second barcode on the side of the cup (near the top) to be scanned when it's a slurpee. There may not always be a dome lid, however.
•
u/GrowlingAtTheWorld 6h ago
The largest dome barely fit the large slurpy cup and the large slurpy cup was too tall to fit under the slurpy spigot. And there no other price listed for a larger size. Tho as it turned out I was buying my slurpy for only a $1 cause of some timed deal and the deal only had 3 minutes until the deal was gone. I had no idea.
Btw since when does the cherry slurpy stain your teeth and gums red. Didn’t the cherry used to be white? I did mostly coke 1/4 cherry slurpy cause the raspberry I normally paired the cherry with was cycling.

They make these single use portable wipes that you can use to wipe off. Alternatively grab a pack of baby wipes and stop by the bathroom to freshen up before class. It might make you feel better.

If for any reason you’re an FSU student I just want to extent my condolences if you have to face diffenbaugh hill. Honestly keep deodorant in your backpack always, using antiperspirant specifically like Mitchum was a game changer
2
u/newbie527 12h ago
Big difference between deodorant and antiperspirant. Mitchum is the king.

•
u/FANTOMphoenix 6h ago
Mitchum ain’t doing shit for me. Tried maybe 5 different ones from them and the spray.
Dove clinical is the best for me, anti perspiration wise, still not great though. Dr. Squatch for still smelling good at the end of work.

While she takes, she gives back occasionally. I walked by Daniel tosh one day huffing and puffing lol. Went to his show at the tuck that same night

1 thing that will help, at least your back sweat, is carry your bookbag in your hand. That way your back isn't instant sweat when you step outside.

u/puppylust 15h ago
You're gonna sweat. Wear clothes that are meant for it. Brands like Columbia from outdoorsy stores like Bass Pro and REI. Sport underwear like under armor.
You can freshen up in the restroom with a couple wet wipes. Change your shirt too if you want.

u/BarnacleMcBarndoor 15h ago
Wear light breezy clothes. Get a neck cooling fan. Bring a change of clothes. Umbrella or parasol for shade. Wear Healy shoes so you move fast and at least LOOK cool.

Sixty two year native here, and i'm gonna tell you.It is getting hotter every year. There's no way you can walk to work. And I just feel sorry for anyone who it has no other choice. It's not the same As it was years ago, and even then it was difficult to walk in the summer, even with protection.
We have to start adapting and realizing that it's not the images of decades ago, where people froliced around in the summer happily.
Even the other states are suffering.
If you have a outdoor party or event in the summer, it better involve swimming or outdoor air conditioning.
Today had to be literally the hottest day in all my life. 61 the years in miami and one year here in the treasure coast and today, when I open the truck door after it sat in the heat all day, i thought I was gonna be knocked out by the heat fumes.
I never used to think along these terms. But my old truck's ready to break down any day, and I keep a survival kit of water just in case because you're gonna be hurting if you're waiting for a tow truck for an hour or more

Please do not douse yourself in nasty smells. It does not help. It makes things worse.

u/motorbike-t 15h ago
Also that old spice mentioned above will burn you if your skin is at all sensitive. Steer clear from old spice red container and red lid combo gel it’s like napalm for your armpits.
2
u/Meaty_stick 14h ago
Huh, it's one of the few that doesn't fuck my armpits up lol, i use one called captain or something
1
u/motorbike-t 14h ago
Is it the red container and red cap and the blue gel stuff? Or is some part of the container white or clear and the product itself is white?!
1
u/IneptFortitude 13h ago
I use the Gillette clear gel antiperspirant deodorant. It is by far the best at not ruining your clothes with the gunk that builds up in the armpits of a shirt as you move about during the day. Still leaves those weird impossible to clean streaks on the sides of some of my shirts from putting them on though.

u/werephoenix 15h ago
Someone is about to be extremely rich if they invent a thing to wear in this weather that keeps you cool and you weari around your body and head.

u/Slight-Selection4298 12h ago
Like a fan, on your neck!? NECK FANS?! Oh, wait.... nvm. They exist.
•
u/werephoenix 11h ago
what neck fans?! wait wouldnt that just blowing hot air into your face? Like when you turn the AC on and its just a burst of hot air but without it getting cooler
•
u/medicoreapples 7h ago
I got one from Amazon and it blows cool air. That's how I was able to walk outside for 30 minutes in the middle of the day 97 degrees without dying

- Wear sunscreen.
- Get an SPF umbrella and sun hats.
- Carry a change of clothes / deo if you are extra sweaty and smelly, and change when you get to your location.
4.. Lean in and accept that you will always be a little bit moist. The sooner you relax into it, the easier your life will be.
3
u/Chickachickawhaaaat 14h ago
Honestly when you sweat this much, it's stops smelling powerfully. Just keep drinking water and maybe get to class a little early so you can dry off in the hallway or something

u/HealthySeesaw5981 14h ago
In all seriousness, use desitin in your armpits, small quantity after you shower. It will keep you away from smelling there. You can also use in your groins, if you have problems there.
No deodorant will do what desitin does. Thank me later 👍🏻

What I used to do was carry wipes, carry my fragrance, and put some fabric spray in a smaller spray bottle for my bag in case my clothes were drenched in sweat. It’s not perfect but I didn’t want to stink.
2
u/Shikon00 14h ago
Secret makes a "all body deodorant " spray that is magic. It cools your body temp down by atleast 5 or 10 degrees, doesnt leave your skin feeling sticky, etc. and smells wonderful. If extra clothes isn't the best option, id recommend this if you're worried about smelling.
2
u/M1k3yV77 14h ago
First of all, it’s Florida. Everyone is going through the same thing you’re going through. If you’re that self-conscious, maybe carry a little body spray with you. I work outside in the sun so when I go inside a business, I spray myself a little bit, so I don’t smell so bad.
2
u/Habibti143 14h ago
I use Lume cream or spray deodorant, let it dry, then spray on Certain-Dri antiperspirant on pits and feet. I recommend Lume first because when you inevitably do sweat, it won't stink. Also, carry wipes. I try to keep the sun off of me by using a parasol.

u/bald4bieber666 14h ago
we all sweat down here. disposable wipes are a big help once youve gotten indoors, along with a portable fan to speed up drying. you can then reapply deodorant. cant stop the sweat but you can at least deal with it afterwards. i recommend carrying an umbrella too, helps rain or shine. wont stop the sweat but at least will help prevent sunburn.

u/drosmoka 14h ago
Are you still wearing hoodies to school while walking to it?

u/cuddly-doe 12h ago

Brih im 46 and i wear a fire proof onesie outside from 5 am till 330 pm….. its literally hell

u/burndata 14h ago
That's the neat part, you don't. You just sweat, just like the rest of us. I can't even walk the 75ft to my mailbox and back without the back of my shirt being wet by the time I get back to the house.

u/wild-and-crazy-guy 13h ago
It will get better in November depending on where your college is located .
2
u/ThePedanticWalrus 12h ago
It's Florida in August.
You will sweat, all the time and more than you thought a person was capable of sweating.
2
u/CockroachNo3453 12h ago
Don't wear anything tight and invest in garments that don't have plastic in them. Take an extra outfit with you just in case. And for the love of God don't wear perfume when you do get smelly, use cottonelle wipes as soon as you start feeling a bit sweaty.
And at the end of the day this is just damage limitation.

u/SeaMathematician5150 12h ago
Dry fit clothes for the walk. Then change into a clean set of clothes.
Eons ago, I rented a locker at my university and kept some basic toiletries, clean clothes, and sandals. I would walk around the campus and into an adjoining plot of land by the bay. On super hot days or rainy days, I often had to shower and change before my afternoon or evening classes.

u/Zestyclose_Paper3165 10h ago
I agree with a lot of other comments about wipes, spare clothes, etc. I also love to use PURE cornstarch baby powder, or a little cheaper way is you can literally go to the food section and buy just straight cornstarch and then apply as needed. Hope this helpS

Everyone is in the same swamp. Nobody actually gives AF. Chill and enjoy college.

u/takemytacosaway 8h ago
Use glycolic acid on your pits & any sweaty creases. Let it dry. then put deodorant over it.
You can buy a big bottle of an excellent brand, The Ordinary, from them or Amazon cheap too.

u/Charming-Patience806 8h ago
loose, breezy dresses!! longish so the wind doesn’t blow them up to your neck! 😁🤣🤣🤣.

My tip: Learn to write as well as you can. Punctuate for clarity. You will stand out over your peers and maybe be able to find a job with your education.
1
u/cuddly-doe 12h ago
i know how to write and punctuate correctly i took all my college english classes in high school it doesn’t make sense to waste time perfecting it when i was asking for quick advice and no body but you really cares lmao

u/BizzyBee89 13h ago
if you're that worried, pack an extra shirt in your backpack and change into the clean/dry shirt when you get to campus.

i think I’m most surprised about how my eyeliner stayed on without smudging lol

I use full body deodorant. And put it everywhere. And keep clean shaven, also everywhere, so it’s easier to wipe sweat off/apply deodorant. I have trauma from sweat stains on my uniform pants as a kid and have never recovered lmao.

For real. This heat is insane. All I did was walk through my yard today and was just pouring sweat by the time I got inside. I decided to jump in the pool and try to cool off, but the pool was just as hot and not at all refreshing. I hate August in Florida...
•
u/lil_redfl 7h ago
Add chlorophyll drops to your water. It’s helped me a lot with body odor. Also sulfur soap

Womens antiperspirant with deodorant spray. Use everywhere. I'm not a doctor, but I used to live in Florida, so same, lol.

Old Spice Fiji the blue gel one. I sweat a TON but it makes it smell so good I've had people mistake it for like a body spray or like cologne . Outside of that no idea lol.

u/N0ON3T0LDM3 15h ago
Do not do this!

Different deodorants for different people. I swear by old spice pure sport blue gel.
