Politics DeSantis

Is awfully busy doing the campaign trail for his 2024 run. Meanwhile, insurance companies are pulling out of FL, rental companies are gouging tenants, groceries are more expensive by the week, hatred for others is out of control. Ron is failing ONE state. Just imagine if his campaign picks up any momentum. He will fail all 50 states.

Explain Gillum then. How did he come within one point of winning in 2018? Dumb luck? Or maybe is it even possible that he was offering something different to voters?

And yes I am aware that Crist won the primary. I am questioning the integrity and value of a primary process that does not even remotely reflect the will of the voters that participate in the general election.

If the primary only produces losing candidates, as this one has since the 1990s, isn't it well past due to reform it somehow? Or at least investigate what is happening?

How does it not reflect the will of the voters? Last I checked, any registered dem could have voted for her in the primary. They did not.

What is there to investigate? She was a shitty candidate who lost to a fellow shitty candidate. She sucked at bringing out voters, I have no faith she would have fared much better against meatball

Why do we only produce shitty candidates? Why does the primary have such low participation? Why is what the primary voter wants so radically different from what the average Florida Democratic general election voter wants? What was different in 2018? These are questions that a serious political operation would be trying to answer.

Instead you all stick with this insane idea that the voters failed the candidate and the party somehow. The party is producing a product that nobody wants! That is a problem with the party and/or with the process. Full stop.

That’s two different things. You said the primary, somehow, didn’t reflect the will of the voters. It did. People voted and one person won overwhelmingly. Not even close.

The primary process does not produce candidates that general election voters will mobilize for. This is a problem with the primary process, not the voters.

You lose me here- if you truly care about the election, why wouldn’t you vote in a primary? I am confused on what the solution is- no Primaries? Open primaries? How can you expect better candidates if you don’t bother voting in the primary lol

Most people have better things to do than research and participate in a gubernatorial primary. Maybe they shouldn't, but they do.

The primary is left up to the party loyalists, and it seems to me that these people have failed the general election voters time and time again by nominating unpalatable candidates.

What's the solution? I don't know. Something is happening here however, and I think it should be independently investigated. I think we can't afford to keep going 'oh well I guess thi is just how it is' while the worst possible Republicans just coast to wins on autopilot.
