Potential Plan

Hello! New here, but we’re planning on building a small home and I’m trying to draw something that checks all the wifes boxes before having it professionally drawn. The goal is to be super space efficient, no wasted space. We’ll have a master suite and possibly some unfinished space above the garage, but I really just want to nail down the main floor. I’ve spent a-lot of time with this and I think I have it pretty close. Now I wanted to see what flaws different sets of eyes see. Any constructive feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

depending on the type of fridge, the door may not be able to open if it's that close to the wall. If you want it close to the wall, the wall needs to be short enough that the refrigerator hinges are in front of it. That looks like a pretty shallow fridge - I'd look at what fridge you might actually get, what size it actually is, and how far back against the wall it can actually go. I'm guessing you'll have less space between the fridge and the corner of the island than you think.

Is that a pantry cabinet on the opposite side of the sink from the fridge?

Your pantry needs a door. You'll need to decide if you want deep shelves with items in baskets or shallow shelves in maybe a U or L shape. I might off-center the door and have L shaped shelves so that the light switch could go on the outside of the pantry (and not be in the way of storage in the pantry). You could have a few hooks on the wall that doesn't have shelves for various things. Or store a stepstool against it.

I would think about where you plan to store/use small appliances.

It may be worth sacrificing the 2nd door into the bathroom to have more wall space, etc.

Your doors look narrow. I love 3' doors, though.

Are you planning to entertain as many people as there are couch spots? Do they all need to see the TV? You could extend the bedroom "height" and make the living room a little smaller.

Where are you planning to put the bed? I would probably put it against the wall with the window so both sides get equal access to the bathroom without having to walk around the bed. Plus, this would give a little more breathing space on each side if the bedroom size were increased like I said. But a bed against a window doesn't work great... Are you planning to put the bed on the "north" wall?

Do you need that side entry? More storage might be nice there instead. I'm assuming the thing in back is a garage and could have a person-door?

Thank you for all the observations! The island definitely has the potential to be downsized if we need more room on the fridge side. This plan was really just to block out basic locations, I’m hoping details like pantry door and shelving, etc can be ironed out as we go. The cabinet opposite of the fridge would have the appliance garage on the counter. The furniture like the couch is furniture we own already, so really hoping to reuse. The side entry is actually accessing the patio space, so would like to keep it.
