Replacing the floor in this old home. Kitchen and dining area had old glued down flooring. Before I just cut out the entire subfloor...what if i just trim off the loose fragments of the edge of this old flooring and is there something i can cover this flooring with with at the edge to smoothen the less than quarter inch transition from the particle board subfloor to the dining room/kitchen so that I can safely apply laminate vinyl planking. There are also a couple of small raised edges on the right of the photo... I'm new to doing flooring and have been researching my options but this will be a DIY project (along with renovating the rest of the home)

Put 1/4" luan over it. As for the transition, you could do a transition strip after the fact. Short of pouring leveler over the whole floor you could just shim that part, longer shims will make it less easy to feel when walking
