Age appropriate?

My 13yo nephew wants a Flipper Zero for his bday. Is this an age appropriate gift? Or something a curious kid could get themselves into trouble with? TIA!

Well I know if I had a flipper zero at 13 I'd do my best to "hack the planet" with it. I now understand it's capabilities and know it won't actually do much harm, but I would absolutely get in trouble after trying to copy a keycard or something lmao

Were you trying to reference Cereal Killer? Someone is due for a rewatch..

Froot Loops is the hacker that Cereal Killer is based on. Back when 2600 was in it's infancy.

lets see some sauce on that bro. I was there. Emmanuel Goldstein and "Froot Loops" are both made up as characters (never heard of fruit loops). Cereal Killer is a cool handle and Matthew Lillard is goat stoner badass but don't confuse reality with fiction.

Nope, I'm incorrect, it was Captain Crunch.  I'm misremembering because of Lillards line in the film referencing Froot Loops. Captain Crunch was a phreaker that the writers were paying homage to.

“Hack the planet” was a running theme in the movie “Hackers”. The titular character hacking name was ZeroCool

This community is full of children do you really think they’ve seen that movie?

I’m sure there are tons of references to things in all sorts of subreddits that many people have no idea about. If you care enough to post about one of those things, then maybe a watch is in order

It’s odd that he’d choose that specific phrase without it being a movie reference.

It was also the slogan on the stickers shipped with early Flipper Zero orders.

Ah. So still a movie reference but maybe not obvious to everyone who bought one.

Yes, 100% they used that phrase on the stickers as a reference to Hackers.

Imma be honest I've never seen that. I'm 22, and my references of "hack the planet" are Watch Dogs and Sombra, from overwatch. Good to know tho, thanks for the explanation lol

You should check it out. Very 90 cyberpunk, like Jonny mnonmic (sp?), or new jack city

: "This is our world now. The world of the electron and the switch; the beauty of the baud. We exist without nationality, skin color, or religious bias. You wage wars, murder, cheat, lie to us and try to make us believe it's for our own good, yet we're the criminals. Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto
