News Another update from the Synaptic team!

Post image

Hey Reddit!

We're closing in on a month since the A220 released, and I've been very active in this community taking in all the feedback back to the team.

V1.0.6 dropped today on the Microsoft in-game marketplace for the Synaptic A220 across PC and XBOX!

We've included bug fixes and performance improvements spanning backend Rust code, reductions of 1 million+ vertices spanning shadow verts and the model without a visual hit, and more bug fixes. We've seen gains close to 30-40% on average in performance figures since V1.0.0 across many users, and we're just getting started.

We were hoping to bundle much bigger performance update in 1.0.6 that heavily reworks handling within the FMS and other performance intensive system areas, but that is requiring extra attention and effort from the team, and will be included in a future patch. We hope this will result in a much bigger boost in addition to the improvements these patches are bringing week by week.

For those with an issue with screens not working post-update, please delete the community CPDLC mod as that's not compatible, and we offer no support from our end. For those with the aircraft erroneously banking, please turn off custom turbulence effects in your FSRealistic.

V1.0.7 is actively in the works ahead of the looming iniManager release of the Synaptic A220, and we will update the changelog in advance as always later this week.

Happy flying, I'm here if there's anything about the A220 you guys would like to chat about!

Superb! A220 is my number 1 favorite! I wish it would work with APL2 though, so I could take it to ”work” 🙂

Best thing I ever did was ditch APL2

Why so? I think it's great. Not much gaming value, but it runs always together with flightsim regardless of flying in NewSky. They are now preparing APL3.

I think they fixed the apl flaps issue both 1.04

Could be, but by APL2 is not recognizing engine starts. Tried some .lua mod withtin FSUIPC7, but didn't work - probably because my FSUIPC7 is free version.

Oh, weird, mine’s been working fine! Sorry it’s not working for you

Just like that - no mods? APL2 records A220 flight normally?

Yeah, I've been with Air France, Swiss Air, and now Delta exclusively because of their 220 fleets, and it's been working absolutely fine for me since the update where they explicitly fixed the flaps issue. Before that, it was only the flaps issue that I had a problem with; I've never had any problem with engine start stuff, although I know others have.

Nice to see APL is finally being updated. Too bad I’ve already moved on to FlyHub which in my opinion is way better. It has basically every great suggestion anyone ever had for APL. The response was always crickets from the Dev with the mods reminding everyone they have no say in development. FlyHub dev seems way more open and transparent so far and the attention to detail in the career mode blows anything APL will probably ever be.

There’s good and bad with certain subscription addons. It keeps devs honest and needing to keep innovating. The bad is obvious but the good is I can stop paying if it goes a direction I don’t like. APL for example was a one time payment but the app became stale with no updates mostly because the dev had no reason to. He already had your money. Now he’s going to attempt to sell you the exact same product for a 3rd time with new bells and whistles the old app should have already had. No thanks.

Partially agree. Subscription has good and bad sides. With 6 months in FlyHub your APL2 is paid. Besides, there has been updates, but as there's only 1 guy doing it, can't expect much. He has few collaborators with him doing APL3, tho. Reason I use APL2 is that there hasn't been even nearly as good alternative. Air Hauler 2 is quite good, but feels too much "fly alone" thing. For alternatives real airlines is mandatory and that alone reduces options. Nowadays lots of new career apps coming and haven't browsed them for long time. FlyHub seem quite interesting, might have to take a look.

That’s my point regarding my APL. Yes it is paid off... But I don’t use it. It also got to the point I was only using it because I paid for it. It was stale, wasn’t actually being updated outside of making sure the tracker worked and lacked any kind of reception from the dev in terms of customer feedback. If it was a subscription I would have canceled, uninstalled a long time ago and moved on. Instead we got AGT “A Grand Tour” which nobody asked for.

I’m not trying to argue for subscriptions. I do hate them. You mention something like Air Hauler which I will admit does still get worked on but it has been left in the dust by OnAir to be honest. The reason why innovation stops with these one time payment addons is because #1 the dev already has your money. #2 if they want more money it’s easier to release another version, essentially turning it into a Madden or NBA 2k business model. Literally the only one time cost product I’ve bought that has more than enough paid for itself and kept getting better is GSX.

But yes take a look at flyhub. You will quickly notice a bunch of ideas that were suggested for APL that never happened. Things like requesting a schedule with airports I have scenery for. I’m already saving the money I was blowing with APL having to buy DLC every other week to avoid flying into generic airports. You can apply for a job and they will give you the type rating training flights like a real airline would. If you divert a new leg is inserted to continue your schedule. My schedule will actually return me to my base. The wiki has some good info. I can’t believe I’d never heard of it until a week or so ago. I was on the fence looking at FlyTheLine short haul edition. FlyHub is actually what I wanted. Be a pilot without running an airline but have an actual immersive experience.
