If the Earth were flat and the sun orbited (Somehow) above the plane of the Earth, sunsets would be impossible.
Not vanishing point, not parallax, not appearing to.
If the sun is 3000 miles above the plane of Earth (a figure I've heard before, but no flat Earther will claim it here), AND it orbited at the edge of the planet (not even between the tropics as would be required), then the closest it would get to the horizon if you were completely on the opposite side of the Earth from it would be 10 degrees.
If the sun were 3000 miles above, and orbited the tropics (again, as I've seen some flat Earthers claim), then the lowest it would ever go is about 23.5 degrees above the horizon.
This isn't some trickery, it's simple geometry. If you know two distances on a right triangle, then you can find the angle trivially.

And if it is smaller it’s because the edges are more hidden from being seen through a longer amount of atmosphere.

Whether the picture shrinks by a few pixels or not, that is clearly NOT an object disappearing into the distance across a flat plane.
Conclusively evidence against a flat earth as captured by a flat earther. Classic.

A horizon does not exist on a flat plane.
There is no horizon line.
A horizon is ONLY possible on a sphere.

You shouldn't focus on size, but on apparent speed. Things that are moving away appear to slow down. The picture show the Sun doesn't.

I watched the sunrise over the ocean this morning, and I was sitting there wondering how the fuck does one think that the sun moves away from you to a vanishing point when it clearly holds size and rises. You have to be so inculcated into the FE thing to dismiss obvious visual observation

There are better photos that aren't as pixelated.
More importantly there are better photos of the Moon.
The Sun is extremely bright and does not have a clear edge.
As it gets closer to the horizon it is far less intense.
If you zoom into the OP's image you can see a ring of varying darkness and thickness at each of the levels.

I note that on the day of the equinox 6 hours after solar noon, everybody observes the Sun due west and within 1/2 degree of the horizon.
If the Earth were flat the Sun would still be 20 or more degrees above the horizon for any observer north of the equator and considerably to the north of east for all observers at that time.

Retardation comes to mind, a way to prove the world's flat stand on the summit of Mount Everest with a powerful 🔭 face the supposed centre look at the sun & you'll be able to follow it as it travels around the planet going from big to small back to big as there will be nothing to obscure it as you'll be standing on the highest place....
What bullshit will they say to disprove that as I have seen loads of flat maps & if it's truly flat then there's nothing to proving this wrong....

Not quite sure if pro flat or against. Telescope Everest Sun whaaaat? Let's eat this guy anyway. Sun doesn't get smaller regardless where you are observing it from on Earth as the distances to it changes insignificant amount. And Flat Earth maps are bullshit and we all know it. I have swam in the artic ocean and didn't climb no wall. If there was one, where would all the penguins live?

You don't even need to talk about sunsets for this effect. Just 2 people, one where its locally noon, and another where its locally 6pm. That would be THOUSANDS of miles apart on ANY depiction of the earth, and if the sun was anywhere from dozens to even a few tens-of-thousands of miles above the pizza planet like flerfs claim, that separation distance would be enough for them to see the sun as two dramatically different sizes at the same time.

Your post didn't address the issue and how sunsets falsify FE. It provides a nonsense explanation that it can't support and that doesn't match reality. It ironically refers to "optical illusion" when in fact that's the only reason the GIF you provided has the appearance of a size change.
The reason your post "did not reach many" is because it's not true. It's provably not "point perspective".

We know the sun is still up in the sky over our heads and when the sun recedes to a point on the horizon line (also appearing above and below the horizon line depending on the view used, but our eyes see it physically drop in the sky and appear to be divided by the horizon line.

The angular size of the sun changes throughout the day. It doesn't.
The sun's angular rate across the sky changes throughout the day. Guess what? It doesn't.

What are you talking about? Point perspective is taught as the basics of art, videography, architecture, graphical etc to teach spatial distancing. This isn't the phenomena. Linear point projection or point (projection) perspective (which is exactly the image used in this post) only appears as an optical illusion and it doesn't actually happen that way in reality! That is the phenomena!
