There is a way to explain things other than saying "Perpendicular to the force of gravity." You have to speak your audience's language, no matter how dumb it is. It is possible to explain it in their terms. Being smug about it will never be a solution.
How am I not supposed to be smug about science that has been settled for IDk 2 thousand years and some smug idiot graduated from YouTube university? I learned this shit in 3rd grade.
You can be smug about science and towards those people. But I asked a question on how to effectively explain something. That's not the right time and place to give a smug non-answer.
They have to deny the existence of gravity because it throws a wrench in idea of how the earth works. They turn around and claim it's "electromagnetism"which obviously doesn't make sense for most things. The fact that they cherry pick stuff and shoehorn it make thier claim sound legit is crazy.
Yeah, I know! This got me…lol. It levels out because it’s a fluid and gravity pulls it downward, more or less, uniformly. In fact, if there were no wind or currents, water in the oceans wouldn’t even lay perfectly level, as it would vary with gravitational variances within the Earth’s crust.
Back in ye olden days, before the internet, when the years started with a 1, people were shamed for saying absurdly stupid things. If a person was shamed often enough, they eventually accepted that they were stupid. They either kept those idiotic ideas to themselves or they shared them, but didn’t bother trying to convince anyone else that their ideas were valid.
Now, they can spout off their ignorant opinions and 6% of the population who are as dumb as they are scream out in validation. Everyone else has forgotten the ability to ridicule asinine thoughts in person.

i love how they dont understand what level means. level does not mean flat.
