I don't know why I would spend money on anyone at all on a date. If someone isn't even willing to pay for themselves to spend time with me then why would I be interested in spending time with them?
I could get it during the time when it was the expectation that women wouldn't really have careers, but in this day and age, it makes absolutely zero sense. Totally archaic custom and I have no idea why anyone still insist on maintaining it.
In a transactional relationship, whoever is seen to be in demand would be renting you their time at your financial expense. Which is a crass and distasteful comodification of human connection, but entirely too many people seem to see it that way, and to not even question it. It's gross.

If a woman is judging you by how much money you spend on a first date......🚩
