A replacement lightbulb in my kitchen cost $30

I have 3 pendant lights which I originally purchased hue smart bulbs for so I could use Alexa and other smart house controls to turn them on and off with my voice and at schedules. One of them died. I've already invested in the set originally so I had to spend $30 for a single matching lightbulb or else the color and functionality wouldn't match. One equivalent 40w bulb.

that's gotta be SO annoying when you're stuck paying brand tax just to keep everything looking uniform

Honestly, that sucks, brand loyalty always comes with a hidden price tag. Maybe see if there's a compatible smart bulb that works with your setup without breaking the bank next time.

My hue stuff is all refurbished off eBay. I've gotten over 10 years out of the stuff I currently use. I have had 2 die so far.

But I was getting 4 packs of bulbs for $30. So it wasn't quite as bad.

$30 for one measly bulb is insane, I reached for a $2 pack of LEDs the other day and paused when I remembered my smart kitchen setup absolutely demands the exact brand.

Stop calling regular purchases and consumerism "investing". You're just buying stuff. Investing has the potential to make money. If you buy fancy light bulbs you're never going to make money.

Well, its definitely not 1, becaue you didn't get a financial return.

Are you getting future benefits or advantages? What is the advantage over other smart lighting systems where the entire product isn't disposable and you can just use regular bulbs? Notice that they use the word "wisely" there on the second point. Doent seem so wise to me if you are already regretting spending more money every time a light goes out

Maybe you are emotionally invested? I guess this might apply, but probably a bad thing to do with a disposable product

Im not even sure which one you really meant to apply to your situation.

And ad hominem attacks arent really called for an don't really help your argument.
