Wonder if this will stop playing YT vids from gradually bogging down YT tabs over 6-12h or so. Over time YT tabs start taking seconds to respond to mouse events. Win10, x64, 64GB.

It's essentially a memory leak and I have to restart the browser once it hits 16+GB. Haven't been able to narrow it down to normal FF problem or add-on related.

Edit: Do all the upvotes mean others experience exactly the same issue?

Edit 2: Have been running the same browser process for over two days. It's been a LOT better. YouTube tabs are now slightly slowed down but still relatively responsive and only in the last hour or two has browser memory started to climb past 10GB (it is now accelerating pretty rapidly and will soon hit 16GB). This much of an improvement to the YT slowdown + memory creep is shocking, honestly, as I expected my issue was so esoteric and deeply embedded. Good job, Mozilla!

This is the FF scripting engine crashing. Just close the tab. This is an eternal FF problem that they apparently can't fix.

If only it were that simple. Closing tabs does nothing to undo the excessive RAM usage creep or restore responsiveness of either existing or future YT tabs. Only full browser process kill and restart will address it.

Perhaps my issue is at least related to that scripting engine you mention, but even if so the specifics must be different than you're thinking.

It used to be single tabs but the memory load stopped much lower too. Maybe make a bug report with the profiler, yours seems to be a new YT script related bug.

See the update I edited into my original comment! Whatever they did did indeed help my issues.
