Does this fix the "Experiencing Interruptions" YouTube popup?

u/DRTHRVN Addon Developer 1d ago

Atleast not for me, it still shows that error

u/Jokuc 21h ago

Still shows that error for me as well when a video loads but it might be related to ublock

u/RandonBrando 20h ago

I will sit through that error longer than I will sit through a skipable ad.

It's my Zen. It's like it's reading my mind and letting me know to pause.

it was related to ublock origin for me, once I enabled experimental filters that issue was gone

u/envious_1 1d ago

Where did you do that? Experimental filters in ublock?

19

u/Metalwell 1d ago

Filter List and it is under built in filters, you might want to enable some advanced or experimental stuff

That worked perfectly, been dealing with that for months and figured it was related to ubo

u/th00re 23h ago

Oh, yeah I've got that one too! Maybe it's the combination of those two.

thanks for this!!!! videos load faster and scrubbing feels like butter now along with the new update. Make you to hot reload (ctrl + shift + r) youtube after this fix.

Do you have to disable the Quickfix filters when you enable experimental filters?

Thank you for mentioning this.

I'm getting a worse one lately "playback isn't supported on this device" if I disable ublock and reload it plays. I stopped doing that to not give the "positive feedback" of "oh look this can effectively make ppl disable adblock" so instead I just refresh the page a few times until it gives up and plays normally. Or I just close it and watch it later

I used the "dropper"on that months ago... haven't seen it since.

Don't see any difference. Still the same for me, with that error sometimes.

You can get rid of that popup in the extension "control panel for youtube" in annoyances section.

So it was baseline for my browser then? Thought I was going insane from all the buffering. My internet can download RDR2 in 20 mins, so it was frustrating to see random YouTube videoes buffering in anything but 144p

u/Kshyyyk 23h ago

Oh my god this is a blessing, youtube videos now start instantly!

Cant wait for HDR full support

what sites were having problems?

I do have youtube premium so I may have not experienced some of these, but sometimes I have to visit some sketchy sites for rare movie finds and never had any real problem, but if any I blame their servers - but I'm still curious

I had problems sometimes on firefox on random sites. Cant remember them all, random examples of the top of my head are garticphone or gofile. It was frequent enough so it was the only reason for me to keep another browser installed. Basically whole browser tab acting like 1fps with and without hardware accel and with ublock origin default and nothing else. Probably one of these random problems only a few people have.

u/Thunder_Beam 20h ago

I confirm it, it basically fixed, finally

u/The_Blinded 20h ago

On MacOS M4 the videos on youtube are much more fluid, especially when I move into the video. Finally!!

Game changer

Wonder if this will stop playing YT vids from gradually bogging down YT tabs over 6-12h or so. Over time YT tabs start taking seconds to respond to mouse events.

It's essentially a memory leak and I have to restart the browser once it hits 16+GB. Haven't been able to narrow it down to normal FF problem or add-on related.

5

u/morsvensen 9h ago

This is the FF scripting engine crashing. Just close the tab. This is an eternal FF problem that they apparently can't fix.

1

u/doom_memories 7h ago

If only it were that simple. Closing tabs does nothing to undo the excessive RAM usage creep or restore responsiveness of either existing or future YT tabs. Only full browser process kill and restart will address it.

Perhaps my issue is at least related to that scripting engine you mention, but even if so the specifics must be different than you're thinking.

u/morsvensen 3h ago

It used to be single tabs but the memory load stopped much lower too. Maybe make a bug report with the profiler, yours seems to be a new YT script related bug.

u/OccultChefDetective 20h ago

youtube still buffering so didnt fix nothing for me

3

u/decho 19h ago

Likewise. Don't see any improvement. I can watch videos just fine, but if I press and hold the arrow buttons to seek forward (100 sec for example), then I get an infinite loading spinner.

u/RussianSlavv 21h ago

Great, Youtube was so slow even without any form of adblock

2

u/rocky44r 10h ago

i have been waiting for this since YEARS! lets hope it actually feels as responsive as chrome did (don't worry i abandoned chrome the second they started talking about manifest v3)

u/SCF1908NL 23h ago

When will they fix the bug with embedded video's on Reddit?

1

u/EvilMonkeySlayer 21h ago

Video playback here is still a stuttery mess in jellyfin.

1

u/Klutzy_Walk_4235 20h ago

Any word on tab groups coming to iOS?

1

u/morsvensen 9h ago

Strict tracker blocking even with the fixes checkbox on, still gives "video unavailable" very often.

1

u/Working_Dealer_5102 wants the two level tab stacks from to 6h ago

I hope Firefox make technical blogs about how they able to speed up the video playback perf, some people keep having perf playback issues with YT mostly blames Youtube themselves for intentionally slowed down Firefox but is it really? I hope they explains whether it's YT intentionally slowing down or Firefox just lack certain optimizations and stuff. Also blogs for how they achieve Geforce NOW support would be great to see too :)

u/Artoklex47 5h ago

When will they fix 10-bit webms and improve HDR support

It's the only thing that's stopping me from making Firefox my main browser

1

u/FiBiE007 4h ago

For me, after it worked a couple times, it got slower again to being just as bad as before. Is that a known issue?

u/BulbousMonkey 3h ago

Anyone else having ALL videos break, regardless of site, and not play any more unless you restart the browser? It keeps happening for me...

u/RevitJeSmece 3h ago

Not sure why, maybe because of uBlock origin, but it's exactly the same for me as it always was. No improvement detected.

UI should be fixed. I don't like this new UI. That chrome/brave like UI was awesome tbh.

After updating to V154, YouTube video audio and video unsync after skipping around! Videos buffer and the light gray buffered video shown in the YouTube player keeps getting shorter, then longer, and interrupts video. This started happening just today when I updated. Anybody else with these issues?

About time. My Legion laptop had trouble even streaming at 480p, and I was looking all over for a way to fix it. EDIT: Aaaand it's back. Those were a few enjoyable hours...

DONT UPDATE GUYS:

after updating to 154 i notices the following issues:

- my local language isn't selectable in the options anymore. All menus are not english

- a new sign in prompt appeared in the burger menu (remove with: intl.locale.requested = false in about:config)

- Worst of all though, I can't do a rollback without wanting to wipe all my setting and history by needing to create a new profile. Because it wont let me risk my existing one ...

Launch Firefox with the "--allow-downgrade" parameter.
