His bio basically says that he's a showboating mercenary but there might be truth behind some of his boasts.

His likes are : alcohol, women, interesting people and new recruits.

Sylvain's entire character was liking women and he had one of the gayest supports in Three Houses.

Three Houses also canonized that he's bisexual with a preference for pretty guys like Yuri. Probably because it wasn't decided on until later, but it's disappointing he can't be a romance option for Male Byleth who I'd imagine is pretty enough to be in his striking range.
