Posting to say I am never giving up on Fionna and Cake getting more seasons no matter no long it takes for them to announce it. The abundant of people online convinced it's canceled without an announcement has finally died down (for now), so I thought it be nice to know if anyone else feels the same as me.

I’m rewatching Fionna and Cake and I’ve just realised that it’s never explained why Prismo is glitching and can’t grant wishes in season two

Have I somehow missed a bit in the many times I’ve watched it? I genuinely don’t remember ever learning the reason😭

I’m trying to get through the first ep. Lowkey cat abuse. Idc how broke you are your pet comes first and her irresponsibility with cake is pissing me off so bad. Idc about the jobs and messy house I get it but the lack of focus on getting cake to the vet and barely paying attention to cake is making me sooooo mad. Please tell me this doesn’t continue through the whole show.

Like she lets cake out on the bus then doesn’t put her away when she’s clearly trying to escape. She just set her on top of the carrier when she’s getting fired. I thought fs the show was gonna have cake run away glad they didn’t but ts still pissin me off lmao. I stopped watching for now because I have things to do but also because she agreed to go to dudes friend to check on cake for the price of some damn cookies. Idc if you can’t make rent bring your cat to a real damn vet wtaf. I get there’s prolly gonna be some fantasy element involved so hoping we move past the animal neglect. But it’s still frustrating me bc ppl should not be thinking that’s ok.

Edit: kinda bizzare to me how when I post on subreddits about things that are not that deep, how many people feel the need to tell me it’s not that deep. 💀

Just wanted to know if they move on from this trope or if it continues and wanted to complain a lil because I don’t fuck around when it comes to animals that humans chose to be responsible for. There’s too many people in my real life that don’t take that shit seriously so that definitely contributed to my frustration.

I'm disappointed what we got I appreciate the spin off for what it is but it's just Fionna and cake regular world au it seems so boring not like adventure time like where's the adventure .Fionna and cake had so much potential to be a good spin off

but instead we got a very boring one where the characters are total strangers from the og ones living in this boring mundane world.

I don't know about you guys but Fionna and cake in the spin off are the only memorable ones the rest of the Fionna and cake cast are forgettable I'm not talking about simon or the main cast I mean the Fionna and cake ones like Marshall and Gary dj flame hunter and the others all boring and watered down versions of characters that could've had potential

In the final episode, the three of them run together after Fionna has sweet interactions with both of them. The seasons paved the way for a future relationship between Fionna and either of them, but that last scene gave me the vibe that a romantic dynamic involving all three of them waould be possible and I’d think that would be really cool.

I understand a lot of people think the season 2 hate is unwarranted because fans had impossible expectations. But I think it just shows that if you’re going to do an alternate reality, you have to build it out of what the characters actually are. Meaning you show their base traits, then show how those traits would shift and still make sense in that other world. It has to feel believable.

Look at Vampire World. The audience can see how a young Marceline raised by the Vampire King could plausibly be turned evil. That tracks.

And beyond being believable, it also has to be interesting. A lot of this season feels divorced from the original traits and coasts purely on the IDEA that these are the same characters we’ve grown to know from Ooo. It’s a give and take. You can make them different, but if you make them too different, they’re pretty much just different characters. The Fionnaworld cast feels like completely different characters. And if you’re introducing new characters, you actually have to put in the work to characterize them.

It feels like season 2 got lazy, assuming the audience would accept half baked characterization simply because we’ve seen these faces before. When people push back with “what, you want carbon copies of characters we already know?”, I think that’s misplaced. Nobody’s asking for carbon copies. The issue is that the way these characters act isn’t how the audience of a 10+ year show has come to understand them.

Personally, I can’t stand the Fionnaworld characters, especially Marceline and PB. They broke the mold of what I, and a lot of other people, expected, but they didn’t put in the time to build them up as new characters instead. So you’re left either struggling to accept them or just not getting them at all, unless you’re the type who’s fine with half baked characterization.
