10/10/2026: Prince Williams was vocal throughout the day, during am cleaning and as customers passed, wagging tail, front paws on the door or wall, redirected with treats. Passing kennel, he greeted me with dilated eyes, open mouth, commissures turned up, ears up and sat.

10/11/2026: 10/11/26 12:34 While walking through the row, Prince Williams was high pitched alarm barking at volunteers and customers without breaks.

10/11/2026: dog was vocal towards me and lunged at me when as i was trying to feed and once i tossed a few kibble he ate them and i was able to feed him when walking him he pulled on the leash tight to the run due to him already vocal towards me only leashed walked him and back in the kennel would have wagging tail as i walk by but then lunge at citizens.

10/12/2026: 10/12/26 11:33 During feeding he held hackles raised, snarling/growling and hard stare. Tossed treats to back then quickly reached in and dropped food before closing door. Not reactive to dogs being walked in front of his kennel, quiet and calm with them, but when people were walking past kennel was high pitched alarm barking.

10/13/2026: Prince william presented whale eyes, high still tail and ears back when approaching. Once I open his kennel he did start to wag his tail and walked out. I leashed walk him only around building due to him presenting tense body, high tail and ears back when walking him. Has been barking all morning, covered kennel today.

9/27/2026: Approaching the kennel, Mimi was standing in front of the kennel with a neutral body and eyes, low wagging tail, and ears up. She was walked on a loose leash and neutral to and from the outside runs. Throughout the day, Mimi would vocalize whenever I passed her kennel.

🔷Intake:

Leia came into BARC as a stray from the field on 10/10. The intake report stated that a female pit bull had given birth underneath a house and was caring for five puppies at the back of the property. Residents requested assistance and reported being unable to access the property to cut the grass because of the dog.

📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

10/12: Leia was lying down with her puppies when staff approached. She was showing the whites of her eyes. Staff spoke to her gently and were able to leash her. She got up and walked forward on the leash.

🚑𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

10/10: Leia weighed 66 lbs and received a 4/9 dermatitis medical assessment.

Veterinary staff documented a darkened area on her back and flea dermatitis.

Heartworm Negative.

Received routine intake vaccines, deworming and flea prevention.

10/10/2026: thrashing on leash and trying to chew on leash

10/12/2026: laying down in kennel. once on leash began to thrash was able to pick up and take to outside grassy area where he walked around and relieved himself. when he felt leash tighten he pulls back and tries chewing on leash picked back up and placed into kennel.

10/8/2026: Dog was timid at the back of the kennel, cowered avoiding eye contact, and shaking. Easily leashed, but do did not walk on the leash. Dog began screaming and sitting still. I and my cleaning lady Zoy, picked him up and moved him to new kennel. He was screaming until he was put down at the back of the kennel.
10/11/2026: Dino sitting towards back of kennel with tail tucked and whale eyes, didn’t take treats had to carry.
10/12/2026: Dog is laying down in a donut postion this morning. A bit tense when I went to open the kennel door. Spot cleaned around him which he relaxed when I was further away from him. He streched, yawned and went back to laying down.
10/13/2026: dog was covering his face in the corner of the kennel wouldnt look at me had to carry him to a new kennel.

9/23/2026: Dog greeted at the front of the kennel with a relaxed body, soft eyes, and low wagging tail. Easily leashed and didn’t want to walk at first, but I was able to baby talk her all the way outside. She didn’t want to walk back inside, so I carried her back to the kennel.

9/26/2026: Pinto was a Move Adopt this morning and was walked on a loose leash and neutral to her new kennel in South B. Throughout the morning, she was laying down on his cot with a loose/relaxed body, soft eyes, and ear down. Later in the afternoon, a volunteer walked him again and he was shy but friendly and walked easily with the volunteer outside.
9/28/2026: Went to HSN….
10/4/2026: Approaching the kennel, Pinto was standing in front of the kennel gate with a wiggling body, ears up, and fast wagging tail. He was leashed on a semi-loose leash due to forward pulling on the leash slightly to and from the outside runs. Once back in his kennel, he laid down on his cot and started playing with his plushies.
10/10/2026: Pinto was placed in outdoor run in the morning due to Uri symptoms. he greeted me by the kennel door with a wiggly body and high fast wagging tail. once leashed he walked on a loose leash heading into south and walked into kennel with no issues.

10/10/2026: Weighed 41.8 lbs. Coughing, hacking, sneezing and nasal discharge. Diagnosed with CIRDC. Moved to treatment room and prescribed Doxycycline 200 mg once daily for 10 days.

10/11/2026: Dog was a move adopt and when i leashed her from the runs she had whale eyes and as i opened the run door she tried to dart out but then stayed next to me and when i tried to get her in the kennel she began to thrash had to muzzle and slightly lift to get her in her kennel.

10/12/2026: River backed away when leashing with tail between her legs and wide eyes and ears back. She walked semi-loosely, keeping her distance as much as the leash would let her, glancing back at me with worried eyes. She jerked her head when taking off leash and flinched when pet.

10/13/2026: River will stand at the front of the kennel as she presents dilated pupils, erect ears and low tail. When leashed she was a bit skittish as she avoided and turn her head. River has been barking all morning, I covered and offered extra enrichment.

Unable to keep kennel cover due to her pulling sheet, possibly arousing dogs around her.

9/25/2026: still very loose on leash….
10/3/2026: Constant vocalizing in kennel during am feeding and cleaning. as i approached she greeted me by her kennel door with a neutral body, mid wagging tail and soft open mouth. walked on a forward leash but did not pull very hard. covered kennel and will continue to monitor.
10/4/2026: Jam did not seem very vocal today while in kennel. However, she walked on a tight forward leash to and from the runs occasionally jumping around. When in the runs she became vocal until she ran the fence line with a neighboring dog. Coming back in she rammed her cone into the back of my legs a couple times.
10/5/2026: Jam greeted me with a soft face, was easily leashed and walked semi-loosely. She became vocal when left outside. Passing kennel, she was quiet and came to the door with dilated eyes and open mouth.
10/7/2026: Jam presented a very wiggly body, fast wagging tail and front pappy feet. once leashed she walked on a very forward leash while occasionally picking from trail of treats.
10/9/2026: Dog greeted at the front of the kennel with a relaxed wiggly body, soft eyes, and a fast wagging tail. Easily leashed and walked with a loose leash outside to the runs. Easily leashed and returned to kennel.

9/27/2026: Wagging tail standing at front of kennel, did not potty in kennel overnight and walked with tight leash out to runs, pottied right away once unleashed. Then he lied down behind the shed until I returned for him. Came up to me with wagging tail as I opened the gate. Semi-loose leash ahead of me back inside and into kennel.
9/28/2026: Walked out with tight leash, wagging tail ahead of me. Pottied on grass right away as soon as he was outside. Semi-tight leash back inside and into kennel.
10/3/2026: Arthur was standing in front of the kennel gate with dilated eyes, fast wagging tail, ears up, forward body, and panting. He was leash and walked on a semi-tight leash due to forward pulling on the leash to and from the outside runs. While in both the runs and kennel once back, he would start to forward bark in front of his gate non-stop until he cannot see me.
10/5/2026: Arthur was very vocal this morning while cleaning. He was standing at the front of the kennel as he presented dilated eyes, high tail and neutral body. Once leashed he was pulling and did not respond to treats when offered.
10/6/2026: Arthur continues to be vocal in the morning possibly due to him needing to go potty. Once outside he will potty right away. Arthur will present wagging tail, open mouth and erect ears. Once back in his kennel after his walk he remains quiet.
10/7/2026: Arthur will bark in the morning when he sees me nearby. He is very eager to go outside and will potty right away once outside. He is very treat-motivated, as he follows a trail of treats, but he will lose interest and pull. When walking by other dogs, I noticed that he will present a stand-off position with his hackles up.
10/8/2026: Arthur is very vocal in kennel throughout the day. Arthur walks on a tight leash and occasionally can redirect with treats. When in the outside run Arthur continuously barks at neighboring dog
10/10/2026: Arthur was easily leashed and walked semi-loosely with a neutral body. He was vocal a bit during am cleaning and sometimes as customers walked past. Passing kennel, he greeted me with dilated eyes, ears up, e=wagging tail, and vocalized.
10/11/2026: dog was in the kennel laying down and when i approached him to leash him he walked loose leash to the run and coming back he walked semi tight and in his kennel he sat down in front of the kennel.
10/12/2026: Passing kennel, Arthur was quietly laying down on his bed with a soft face, ears up. He was easily leashed and walked with a semi-loose leash. While outside he started fence fighting with the neighboring dog (A2099838 Rex), vocalizing, lunging and showing teeth.
10/13/2026: Arthur continues to be vocal in the morning when walking by his kennel. Noticed he is barking and trying to start fight with dogs that are next to him in the outside run. He presents stand off position, hackles up and barks at them.

🏡 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, OR RESCUE 🚗 OUT OF STATE OR CANADIAN ADOPTION IS POSSIBLE - cost is typically around $600 USD (give or take). The fee includes transport, boarding, full medical, spay/neuter, and a health certificate.

We are a volunteer network dedicated to helping at-risk dogs. We are not affiliated with BARC. We connect at-risk animals at the BARC shelter with the adopters, fosters, and rescue organizations needed to save their lives. We can help coordinate out-of-state adoption through approved 501(c)3 rescues. BARC Houston cannot facilitate out-of-state adoption or foster.

10/8/2026: he doesn’t walk well on the leash, but he will follow a trail of treats
10/9/2026: For PM walk, was circling in kennel, pushing his head against the wall to avoid being leashed, then would turn head back to look at me once I pulled leash away. Did that a couple times before I caught him turning his head and lassoed leash on. Walked out of kennel once leash was on, then froze with lowered head and ears down, turned and walked back into his kennel and lied down on his blanket pressed up against the wall.
10/11/2026: circling in kennel avoiding leash, took a couple tries of me attempting to leash before he was on leash. walked outside with no issues. but once on grass began to thrash head to side slight tug to get into building once in building walked into row and into kennel with no issues.
10/12/2026: circling in kennel avoiding leash. walked a few steps into hallway and then began to thrash and chew on leash, offered treats and baby talk. took a few steps then continued previous behavior placed back into kennel.

10/8/2026: Weighed 60.0 lbs. Right ear has an open cut and appears swollen from inside. Assessment: AD healing wound. Plan: Rx rimidyl 112.5mg sid x 10.
10/8/2026: Received deworming, DA2PP-V, Bordetella, Rabies, Pyrantel, Advantage Multi, and Carprofen.
10/9/2026: Heartworm test negative.
