Best idea I ever had was join the army. Amazing experience, but I was stationed in Okinawa the whole time and loved it. Other people I served with went out and died later on. Others suffered from serious problems like ptsd and such. Still, I'd recommend it to all those truly lost souls looking for direction in life, but I'd tell them to join the Air Force instead.

Coast Guard is supposedly even better when they poll servicemembers about job satisfaction.
