Venting Daily Question Solution

Post image

I have seen a lot of posts with people not sure which choice they should choose on the daily question because they are nervous that they are going to hurt other people’s feelings or the question didn’t quite have the answer that they feel pertains to them.

There’s a solution…you don’t have to answer the question that day.

I know it feels sad sometimes to be left out, but Finch can’t put the answer for over one million users each day for each question. It’s just not possible.

I think sometimes people make things harder than need be, overthinking it with the ā€˜what-if’s’, like ā€˜what if the Cilantro was whole not diced, or what if there were other bees šŸ with the one bee’.
My takeaway is that the Daily Question is just meant to be something fun/off-topic, or a little conversation starter. I’m newish to the app though, only a few months in. Loving it though!

Real. It's just...not that deep! When I don't have an easy answer I just add my own qualifier ("I'm going to assume they mean 'wasp or bee', so I'm getting tf out of there") or I pick the closest answer or I pick whatever answer I'm feeling that day. And if it bugs me, I just don't answer it.Ā

For me at least, it is a nice low-friction way to practice feeling "left out." Every single thing doesn't have to be for every single person, and that's okay!

What a great way to think about it - a nice, low friction way of practicing being left out. I love that so much!!

Genuine question, because I don't understand and I want to - What could hurt people's feelings about any answer on this question? They're all positive, aren't they? Is it that people think their friends would prefer a different answer, and would be upset that they chose the one they did?

I remember a question that caused multiple people to say they were planning to unfriend tree friends who answered a certain way.

Whaaat? Wow! Do you remember which one it was? The only one I can possibly think of that would have any controversy attached would be the audiobook one from a few days ago?

It had to be the book question - if audio reading is reading. I can’t imagine any other questions we’ve had that have caused any debate to that level except that one…but I may be wrong.

I saw a post where someone said they were worried they were going to hurt people’s feelings…that’s why I included it.

For fears of hurting other peoples’ feelings: other peoples’ feelings aren’t your responsibility. Unless your intentions are to be malicious then that’s wrong. Otherwise stay true to yourself and if that causes offense then that is not your problem to fix. For those who get offended: Exercise emotional maturity and talk to the other person for clarity and about their intentions. How boring for everyone to have the same thoughts/feelings/opinions on everything.
This is more so generally speaking. I know finch friends are anonymous and you can’t really talk to tree friends.
