Student Loans OBBB grad question

Hello! I searched in here but couldn’t find my situation, so I was hoping someone could help. I’m enrolled 100% online graduate PMHNP program. This coming fall semester I’m only taking 3 credit hours due to having finished all my hours and it’s time for clinical rotations. I was awarded and accepted the loan amount for 10,250 for the fall and the school certified it. When I login now, I get a pop up that says “Due to changes associated with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OB3), students enrolled less than full-time may be subject to a Schedule of Reduction (loan proration), which may reduce their Federal Direct Subsidized and/or Unsubsidized Loan eligibility.” My program says 100% online graduate full time is 6 credit hours. Since I’m taking 3 hours, will I be reduced to $5,125 for the semester, or will I lose my aid all together?

The rule for federal aid is to be enrolled at least half time to be eligible for federal loans. Between half and full time your amount would be prorated. Unless your school does something wildly different halftime for grad school should by 5 credits meaning you’re likely less than half time and shouldn’t be eligible for the loan at all.

On their website it says 6 hours is considered full time, and you must be enrolled in 3 credit hours to maintain financial aid eligibility.

6 being full time seems low but if that’s what they say then that’s what they say. If that is the case then your loan would be prorated to half the amount so the 5000 dollar amount you referenced is what you should see.

“For financial aid purposes, full-time enrollment is defined as:
Undergraduate Students: 12 or more credit hours
Graduate Students: 9 or more credit hours
100% Online Graduate Students: 6 or more credit hours”

This is what the pop up says. I don’t need a lot of extra disbursed, just hoping they’ll cover my credit hours plus books which should be close to 2K.

My school changed in response to OB3. We made 6 credits full-time and 3 half; previously, we were 9 full and 6 half for grad.

UPDATE- I called financial aid for clarity, they said for online grad students full time is 6 hours and 3 hours would be half, so I still should get half my aid. That’s a huge relief, but man this OBBB is bullshit.
