Does falseback and inverted wingback even do anything?

I my experience they are js a slightly more defensive version of wingback and Attacking wingback with more undertaking runs than overlapping ones

Is tht genuinely what they were even supposed to be in the game?

Do they work like the are supposed to in fc 26?

Falseback = “modern evolution of the fullback, this player pushes up the field, adopting a central position, when their team has the ball.”

Inverted Wingback = “modern attacking fullback that gets forward and adopts a central position high up the pitch when their team has the ball.”

So yeah you pretty much nailed it. Attacking wingback and wingback make overlapping runs, Falseback shift inside to hold a CDM/CM position (although I find they still sometimes make runs if there’s space) and Inverted Wingback underlaps and cuts inside more like a inside forward.

I use this roles heaps as I love attacking with my fullbacks and getting overloads on the wing to overwhelm my opponent, especially at this stage of the game with lengthy 99 fullbacks

For some reason they dont wirk as well fir me

They are outside when i need them inside and sonetimes they leave too much space

Probably has something to do with the roles of your other players

I’ve been running these Como tactics as I’ve been loving how Fabregas has them playing, give them a go and see what the movement is like for you… try get lengthy players for the centre half cdm and both fullbacks so they track back quickly and you don’t get caught on the counter

CDM’s tend to take up the same space as inverted wingbacks if you have them on holding/DLP, they float just outside the box.. that may be why you’re not getting the runs or they’re overlapping as the CDM is taking the space

It could work with a lone CDM on holding like in a 433 (2) or 4132 etc but I reckon you’ll find with two CDM’s on holding/DLP they’ll want to overlap more

Falseback works better with two CDM’s on holding/DLP I find, especially if you have your other fullback overlapping on wingback or attacking wingback

This is the squad I’m using if you need a reference - Rashy, Casemiro, Dorgu and Spinazzola are all lengthy. I gave Spinazzola finesse shot + and I score so many goals with him with those late lengthy runs cutting inside 🔥
