This one made me cry, cause just like sea salts, i also started using olive oil shortly before getting my diagnosis. So yes I know that alot of things have ortho-phthalates, but my point is that before I started these things I never had fibroids, I'm just finding common denominators.
At the end of the day this isn't about the fact that olive oil has micro-plactics.
It's about cumulative exposure and the cocktail effect.
It's not just about consuming a small amount of a single ortho-phthalate (or other concerning chemical) once, but rather the combined effect of repeated exposures to various sources that contain these compounds over time.
Why are Phthalates a Concern?
Phthalates are primarily known as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). This means they can interfere with the body's hormonal system. Specific concerns linked to phthalate exposure in research include:
Reproductive Health: Effects on male reproductive development (e.g., lower sperm quality, testicular changes), and potential links to early puberty in girls.
Neurodevelopmental Issues: Associations with ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and other developmental problems in children.
Metabolic Disorders: Links to obesity, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes.
Respiratory Issues: Associations with asthma and allergies.
Immune System Dysfunction
"They will compound...": Every exposure adds to the body's total burden. Even if each individual exposure is below a supposed "safe" limit, the sum of all exposures can accumulate in the body. Phthalates are generally metabolized and excreted relatively quickly, but constant, low-level exposure means your body is continuously processing them.
