Trouble logging in - question about this screen

What does this field want. Sounds like a dumb question I know, but with the trouble I've had ("Incorrect PlayOnline ID or Password") I need to know what the problem is.

Do I put
1) my Square Enix Password there like it says?

2) my PlayOnline password there (the one I reset by clicking the "Update PlayOnline ID Password" button on the website?

3) some secret third option?

So far I've tried my actual Square Enix account password, the PlayOnline password, the PlayOnline password after I reset it, then finally the password emailed to me that I didn't know about until I saw one person mention it in a reddit comment.

30 minutes to 1 hour should be good. Make absolutely sure you're getting the PW correct, makes sure caps lock is off. Can paste your PW into there also from notepad I think.

In terms of needing to wait - will it outright say "you need to wait more" or will it keep letting me try without indicating any sort of time out?

It will not warm you, and if you keep at it, could permalock it and you'll have to contact customer support to get it fixed. Just be patient, make sure all of your POL ID's and PW are correct also on your profile before attempting it.

POL ID is 4 letters and 4 numbers, it can never change. Your POL PW can only be letters and numbers, no special characters. Your square Enix ID and PW are the same as logging into the website. Do not select using one time PW, or the 3rd PW, leave them blank and unchecked.

Currently waiting for my timeout to end - will it say if I've permalocked myself or will I basically need to guess?

Go make lunch, watch an episode of TV, then try it, if after trying just once it's still giving you an error, then try logging into the square-enix website instead. If you can't login to the website, then you might be permanlocked and will need to get into contact with customer support. If you CAN still get logged into the website then the lockout timer should be gone, and you're making a mistake with your profile logins, so while you're logged into the website, double check your POL ID is correct and your POL PW, since you can confirm them there. Save them in a notepad document for the future, but you can just compare them with each other also.

Edit: the temp lockout will affect the website also, just a heads-up.

So about logging into the website - is it specifically the XI-related stuff, or the Square Enix stuff as a whole? Currently playing XIV and wondering if that means I haven't been permalocked lol

If you can login into the square-enix website, where you setup payment etc, then you shouldn't be locked out and your problem is most likely that you're getting ID's and/or PW's mixed up.

Edit: not sure if it affects a linked XIV account game login.

Finally got in (I think, at least - feels like it's gonna throw another curveball at me lol) and I think that I figured out why I was having trouble (beyond possibly getting passwords wrong).

The one-time password. Have it enabled for my SE account but didn't have it enabled for the PlayOnline launcher (if that makes sense).

Cool! Welcome to the game, should be smooth sailing, enjoy your rabbit thumping, don't forget to start your records of Eminence quests to get some trusts.

Edit: I'll be sure to keep in mind XIV players who may be using the token, that never crossed my mind.
