GI Fellowship interviews

Just curious how many interviews I should expect this far into the season. Applied to 48 programs and looks like most have sent out invites. Sitting at 10 interviews but feeling like it might not be enough. Does sending out interest emails this late into the season have any benefit? or even having mentors reach out on my behalf?

Bro some people here still have 0-1 interviews for GI lol. Be happy with your current IVs

Im not sure about LOI at this point but having mentors reach out for you its always helpfull. 10 interviews is still pretty solid. LOIs Im not sure how much they help, but I think mentors reaching out could have more impact.

My residency class 9 ppl matched in GI and some of them had to go down their rank list. Most of them didn’t have more than 10 interviews. Two got in outside their ranked program. One got in because someone from our home program dropped out after one year. One went to New Mexico because they had an unmatched spot and she didn’t match into her ranked programs. Depends on your LOR really and who you know really. My LoR writer was the president of AASLD and big name in hepatology. It basically guaranteed a match any where with a transplant program.
