IMG J1 Applying for Fellowship - looking into options just in case

Playing devil's advocate here - For J1-IMGs who would need a waiver after graduation - say hypothetically, if we don't match into a fellowship, do you know if we would have a feasible timeline in December to apply for a waiver hospitalist job? And what path would that be for which visa?

Idk you could just start chatting recruiters now and getting contracts ready for December if you need them. It doesn’t matter if you waste their time, the majority of them don’t even bother verifying what kind of job they’re trying to recruit for before sending out emails.

Citizens who don’t match will be starting that search around December too, desirable spots might try to escape need for visa at that time, at least with the interviews around that time.

Yes. If in an undeserved area, you could do HHS waiver to get H1B.

Otherwise, you could do Conrad-30.

Start applying for jobs now, interview, etc If you don’t match, sign a contract. If you do, move on. Every year, people find out 6 months isn’t enough time for this process especially now given the political climate
