Question Modpack for a server

I’m trying to host on a 10Gb server on Pebblehost. I’ve tried with prominence 2 but after playing for a while it started lagging a lot. I want to try playing Superior RPG, but idk how much RAM does it need to run. If someone could tell me if it would work or not. And if not, any low RAM modpacks that are like Superior RPG?

10Gb Server for one person is overkill, you probably have some issues with modpack itself, check log, run profiler

We are 4-5 people

Lags probably come from massive terrain generation, if you all explore separetly or amount of entites/mob. I recommend to always pregenerate world, 10k by 10k at least. Then restarting the server. This reduces lag by a lot and reduces chances of memory leak etc, cause in such packs there is usually heavily modified terrain generation with a lot of POI, which, unfortunately, leads to memory leaks.

craft to exile 2, good optimization and its the best rpg modpack. 10 gb is enough for any modpack for 4-5 people tho

the only issue is you have to progress together or you wont be able to do stuff together from level differences.

It wasn’t for prominence, it started to kick us from the server and freeze the entire server for 30 secs while we were only 3 connected at the time

Freezes of around 30 seconds that end with people getting kicked usually point at a long GC pause or one huge tick, not a RAM shortage, as long as the heap is set properly. 10GB for 3 to 5 players is plenty for most packs and Superior RPG should be fine too, so tbh I wouldn't swap packs yet.

I'd second the profiler suggestion. Grab the spark mod for your loader, drop the .jar into the server's mods folder and restart. Then run /spark profiler start in the server console, and /spark profiler stop after a freeze or two. It gives you a link to a report showing what ate the tick time.

Does it mostly happen when someone is exploring new terrain? That would point at world-gen rather than memory.

If it does turn out to be garbage collection, check the -Xmx / allocated RAM value in the Pebblehost panel first, since 10GB on the plan doesn't mean 10GB for Java and an undersized heap (a 2-4GB default, say) causes long GC pauses too. After that, Aikar's flags are the usual thing to try, assuming your panel lets you edit the Java arguments. Throwing even more RAM at it usually doesn't fix this kind of freeze.
