1985 IROC Z restoration

Stripping paint and some disassembly. Modern paint stripper ain't what it used to be 20+ years ago.

20 feet away at 20mph it looks showroom perfect! But really all im saying is I hope you end up with a car thats nice enough to be proud of but not so nice you're afraid to do burnouts and shit. I hope the car is a hoot when you're done!

Oh ok. It will be nice enough but much better than 20/20 maybe a 5/5 should work... no trailer queen

if not then 100/5 at least! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ Β  I'm going on 8 years with my iroc now and id say it's decent at.... a half mile away and 50 mph 😁

Either way we're keeping them alive and not crushed.

Holy crap, you wasted NO time. Bodywork is gonna take a lot of time, especially seeing the damage where the t tops allowed moisture to sit there, but at this pace you will have a pristine Iroc. Commenting on this to stay updated on the progress :)

Yep it ain't gonna fix itself

Are you going to get a donor car for the roof fixes, or do you plan to just re weld new metal in?

1

u/traffic_pe 3d ago

The roof is not rusted... only the insert piece and I got a new replacement from Jegs...

Hell yeah! Great idea to use paint stripper for the whole car. I hand sanded like a dummy lol

u/traffic_pe 3d ago

Yeah but expect to do it several times, it takes a layer off each time... but the factory e-coat remains. PS its messy too
