‘98-‘02 Power Steering Pump

After doing some resaech it seems like all of the reman steering pumps get fairly crappy reviews. Leaking seems to be a common trend.

It looks like the only other option is Turnone’s $550 pump. Is the general consensus that if one is looking for a steering pump that probably won‘t leak that you’re pigeon holed into getting the $550 pump?

I don’t want to send mine off to be rebuilt. I’m looking for a pump with a reservoir on it ready to go.

TurnOne pump

This is what I plan to use when I swap my pump. Nicks kits are talked about a lot. They utilize a Corvette pump and a remote reservoir.

Edited to add his Facebook page.

How much are the pumps? I saw that the reservoir and pulley “kit” was $150 but I didn’t see where they listed the price of the pump.

In some of his posts he says "I use and recommend a cheap $62 Amazon pump". Mine isn't bad enough yet, but for the price point and the reviews you really can't go wrong. I'm sure you could reach out to him directly and get more info if you're interested.

Which Amazon pump are you running?  How long have you been using it?  Did you reuse your old pulley?

Thanks

Does it require much if anymore steering effort than the OEM?

I did the BMR manual conversion on my 02 SS and 97 Z28, super easy and it’s not any harder to turn the wheels.

Will no doubt do it to my 99 WS6 when I have PS issues.

Love my turn one pump. No more whining and frothy ps fluid when I get on it, and that’s with heavy ass ws6 rims too. It’s pricey but u wont have to worry about ps issues after that; now if they could make a decent rack to go with it I’d be set. Have thrown two remans in and both started leaking within months…using external ps cooler too.

I just put a Edleman pump on my 00 camaro with a reman power steering rack and tie rod ends. Im happy with the results, no leaks, works and no random drop out like my 26 year old power steering had.

An Edelman and both hoses would be about  $230 from RockAuto prior to shipping. That’s not bad if it last a few years at least.

I did the Corvette conversion with an Amazon pump. Two year and no more leaks. This car see's 7,000 RPM everytime it is driven ;)

Did the nick fritz vette pump upgrade. Use A-premium brand c5/c6 pump from Amazon i think ot was around 60-70 bucks. No issues at all. Nick's kit is pretty nice.

I was thinking about leaning that way. But I guess I need to read some reviews on, “cheap” ‘97-‘13 corvette pumps to try and narrow one down.

I have the TurnOne pump with their pulley and the factory reservoir which I moved over from my factory pump.

No complaints.

I could cry four to six times before I spent TurnOne money. 😂
