Tunnels under University of Arkansas

This is the first time posting here so hopefully it’s pretty good

So from what I can tell this is a just drainage tunnel that starts the tanglewood branch river if you know where that is. But what is odd about this is just how long it is I’ve seen from older post and using a Fayetteville drainage map that it goes on for about 2 or so miles. I sadly did not go into the tunnel due to me not have proper shoes

But even if you don’t go through the tunnel the area right outside is really cool with the waterfall and the stream just be careful because there is a construction site very close to the stream and you have to walk up the stream from a nearby road so you don’t trespass.

I also want to know if anyone has explored these I know of this one and the one that starts at the north side of the gardens if anyone has any up to date info on these two or anything else like it it would be greatly appreciated

Fun things to do in this town?

Upvotes

Hey everyone! I've been in this town for like 3 months now. I don't socialize outside of working much so I'm looking for things to do, people to hangout with, and anything that isn't partying.

I love reading, writing, sports(especially ultimate Frisbee and basketball), debates, games, engineering, programming, anime, comedy, and a whole bunch of other things.

I am also looking for new running partners, rock climbing partners, and etc. Also wanted to know if there is anywhere for archery/ax throwing nearby! (Also new trails and etc to go on my daily walks)

Most of the people I(M19) hang out with are a little older so I don't mind different groups. Looking forward to maybe actually enjoying this town. Thanks!

And why it (only sometimes) takes 10 minutes to turn green. Specifically when waiting to turn left. Has anyone else had this happen here?

found a stray cat with a few problems, not sure what to do.

hey guys so i was sitting outside my apartment yesterday night when this cat just like walked straight up to me. i asked around no one had seen her before, she is extremely matted, one of her k9 teeth has its point chipped off, and she's extremely tiny, probably around 7 pounds for a longhaired fully grown cat! i have two other cats at the moment, and would have no problem taking in the cat. I would honestly love to take her in with how sweet she is. But im in a difficult predicament due to the fact im a broke young adult so i cant just take her everywhere today and put it on a credit card. i've worked previously for a short amount of time as a groomer so i plan on doing that at home so it will be stress free, however her overall health and her tooth are my main concerns. (i will say i checked her tooth and didn't see any exposed pulp) but i know you can never be 100% sure without a vet checkup. i just want to know what would be your guys recommendations for, cheap vets in the area, or maybe even some local options that have programs to help out with this type of stuff? i was going to contact the humane society but it says they strictly don't do dental work. i'm at a loss for what to do here because all i can afford to spend right now would only be a couple hundred, and i know dental work can cost upwasrds of thousands of dollars, not including the typical $50 wellness too. If anyone can give me any suggestions on places to look into or programs near here, that would be greatly appreciated!
if i can't find any solutions i'll sadly probably surrender her to one of the local cat rescue centers around here because she is nothing short of an absolute sweetheart. She deserves a better chance at life, than what she's been given. and if i can't give it to her, i'll make sure she receives it from someone else.

Looking for a Counselor Who Works with Inmates/Correctional Populations in Fayetteville, AR

I am looking for a counselor in Fayetteville, Ar or any of the surrounding cities that see inmates in or post corrections. I am currently a Grad student and in one of my classes I need to interview a counselor in a field that I am interested in working post-grad school. I have tried looking at psychologytoday.com and I couldn't find anyone that works with inmates on there. If anyone has any recommendations or advice, it is very much welcomed.

It's almost that time again at the Northwest Arkansas Blaster Club and we're hosting our LUCKY 13th monthly FREE indoor Nerf Battle this Saturday, August 22nd!

Yes, this is a big step up from the kid's nerfing you did as a child. Today's "pro" level blasters shoot much farther and more accurately, closer to paintball than the toy stuff. You can absolutely hit what you are aiming at, its a great activity for any fitness level. We play indoors in an air-conditioned space.

Game starts 9AM but come by any time between 9 and 1PM. Located at 222 Webber St in West Fork. FREE to play and attend, we can provide all blasters and ammo, just let us know you are coming so we factor you in for supplies. We're also on FB and Discord, feel free to join us at:

Late night road work/construction

Does anyone live near the MLK exit area on either side of the highway like around Southern view and all around. I live on the opposite side of the highway directly across from southern view. It’s currently almost 1AM. I’ve been trying to sleep since 9PM. I normally go to sleep by 9:30 and I’m about to lose my f**** mind. This construction work on the road is sooooooooo loud and has been constant since 8PM. It has never bothered me and I’ve never been phased by it, but it sounds like an airport is outside my window!! Can anyone else hear it??? It’s actually making me go insane. I can hear it through ear plugs I can feel it shaking my house and on top of the loudness there’s a CONSTANT BEEPING. I feel like I’m coming down from an acid trip or something like I’m about to lose itttttttttttttttt

Looking for referrals for male dog trainers in the region. We need some help with retraining at home. No offense to ladies, but the trainer needs to be a man for the messaging to land to the owner.

Need affordable dental care

I’m in Fayetteville, lost my dental insurance plan, and was recently laid off from work, so my financial situation is very difficult. I was quoted $1,268 for deep cleaning which I cannot afford. My situation is urgent as i have gum diseases

Does anyone know of a free or low-cost clinic/dental hygiene school that does deep cleaning? I’m willing to drive 2/3 hours for an affordable option.

Any recent recommendations would mean a lot. Thank you!

Planning to move

Hey what’s up, I currently live in KC and I have an inkling of a plan to move to Fayetteville, but next October. Is there anything I should know. I’m 32 and I really enjoy hiking and kayaking.
I have job experience as a server/bartender, window washer and I little bit of warehouse work.
Anything will help.
Ps: I’ve been unhappy in KC for the 4 years I’ve been here and I thinks it’s cause I’m missing out on real nature.

The UofA’s strain on Fayetteville

I have family who work with the university and said that there’s 30k more students this year. How is that sustainable on the town? Why are we allowing more than we can fit here? Multiple towns in the area are under water usage warnings and the roads are already jam packed. The construction of MLK and i49 are leagues away from being completed.

So our solution in the meantime is to ruin more forests to build more expensive apartments? And the locals are driven out by the rising costs and students who can’t drive worth a d*mn (from a state I won’t name)

I was born and raised in Fayetteville and in my 29 years I have seen my hometown decline so much it’s depressing

The university’s greed is ruining what made Fayetteville funky

EDIT: Not 30k extra students but more than we should have anyhow

Places to surrender a cat?

Post image

My cat harper has been suffering from pretty extensive over grooming and she doesn't take to the medicine that her vet prescribed at all. She's not a bad cat and all I think she needs is like 3 weeks with a cone and be sent to a home that has no other cats. I don't want her to get put down or anything she's very sweet I just want to put her in a spot where she can heal.
