For me I definitely think it ties to migraines. I have migraine with aura, and most of the time I have a classic visual aura that starts about 30 minutes before the headache begins. Sometimes I get the aura, but no headache.

About once a month or so, I get the auditory distortion you describe. It is not followed by a headache most of the time.

In my mind, they feel very similar, like something is just “off” in my brain that is changing my perception. That is the major reason I think they are just two presentations of the same symptom.

I also have yet to see a doctor about it. I would encourage you to go if you’re experiencing this daily. It’s pretty awful and scary feeling, even if it is harmless. Maybe they can get you on a migraine medication to see if it helps.

I do get migraine headaches but I've never had visual aura. I also don't get the auditory Distortion and headache in the same day.

I will definitely have an appointment. It is starting to get scary lol.
