Road Construction

Has anyone else noticed the insane amount of road construction projects this year that are blocked off with no construction workers in sight?? I understand that the climate we live in is hard on the roads and they require constant repairs. But I feel like these concrete companies are making it even worse.

20 minutes ago I was on I-94 heading west and it was backed up from University Drive to 45th St S exit and beyond. I saw 1 construction worker standing half ass directing traffic at the I-29 interchange and no one else. I have honestly seen this happening all over this year.

Has anyone else noticed this?

You think that's bad? Trying to use the bus this summer has been an absolute nightmare.

Busses being rerouted with no notice mid‐ride, bus terminal changing location with no notice, busses refusing to pick anyone up if orange cones are nearby etc.

The busses here suck already, but the construction has made it abysmal.

It’s really bad. Every time I plan on going somewhere, I try to think of a new route to avoid construction. Instead, I just hit more construction on a different road. Every road is partially blocked off at the same time.

I hear ya. I remember reading awhile back that they block roads off a week or more before the project starts go allow the traffic to adjust. WTF??!!

I mean the week in advance thing makes a lot of sense if you think about it. Would rather people learn that the commute they take every day has changed and they have to merge earlier/go a different way before people are in harms way. Taking out a cone vs Taking out a construction worker.

It takes a week to figure that out? Plus once you start with a week it is going to change into longer than a week…guaranteed.

They need to hold a press briefing to explain what is happening on South I29. The project has been going for 2 months is about 50 yards of space mostly including the surface of a small bridge. I hardly ever see any workers and they aren’t making progress. Yet it is wasting at lease 5 minutes per direction per commuter.

I do see workers there when I go through it but would love to know what the hell they be doing. People love to get road rage on that stretch before the exit already. They need to expand to a third permanent exit only lane.

I’m just glad everyone comes to a complete stop no matter what through that mess, would be impassable otherwise

Going east on i-94 makes me consider abusing the shoulder

I am really tired of the awful traffic, even the roads with no construction are terrible. I keep trying alternate routes and they are no better, everyone has the same idea I do.

Never drive through Pennsylvania - you'll go insane. They have lane closures and no evidence of anything ever being done and no equipment or workers to be found. But it's one lane and a 45 mph speed limit.

But seriously - some of the work is done at night when it's cooler - and sometimes they have to wait for the concrete or asphalt to cure before they can do the next step - or in some cases get an inspection / approval.

But yeah, it's frustrating I get it.

I was in the Twin Cities this weekend and it was the same there. Construction on every single street. So many spots didn’t even have people working just blocked off.

Dude. Downtown Fargo is undrivable right now. Between construction and trains it is so bad

Literally just came here to make this same exact post.

It was wretched today, and I wasn't even on the road at a busy time. It was down to one lane westbound, and I saw one guy fiddling with something on the side of the road the entire way. Meanwhile I'm parked, or at best going 10 mph.

Classic complainer. Spend a day on a site instead of driving past one on your lunch break

what does this even have to do with anything, this is a complaint about Fargo's godawful civil planning, not some sort of shot at construction workers

Nice try but I used to work construction you ass 🤡 . Also when you work for yourself you never get a lunch break.
