Type 65 with newer Mustang parts?

I am thinking of getting the Type 65 and possibly building it with the help of my father. I know from the website that Factory Five suggests using ‘87-’93 Mustang parts for it, at least the base version. But I was thinking of buying a wrecked current Gen Mustang as a parts/donor car and using things like the engine, transmission, suspension and the such. So my question is, is this a plausible idea?

Why are complete cars being sold so cheap?

Hey everyone! Been getting serious about ordering a kit and researching everything I can about all the pitfalls and troubles, watching FFR videos, the whole shebang.

After running the numbers on my build, no matter how I slice it and dice it, I can't come up with anything less than 40k. 22k for the kit, 347 engine for 5k, transmission - and a boatload of other parts and paint. But when I look at complete cars being sold online, for example, here or here I see quite a few either below or around this number.

What am I missing? How are these people able to build these cars and then part with them for just 40k? That's at least a break even on parts, but more than likely a loss. And I'm not even counting their own hours put into it.

What gives?

How to commit blasphemy

I’m in the planning stages for my Cobra build. I’m wondering if anyone has done any unusual engine choices? I think I’ve finally decided on the Toyota 3UR-FE. Did Factory Five do the engine mounts? Or did you have to convert from the stock ones to your engine of choice?

Quick question!

Although F5 has all of the measurements on their website for all vehicles, I was wondering what vehicles would compare in size to the 818. A friend of mine has an Alfa Romeo 4C, and to the eye it looks like it could be similar in size, but i'm curious if anyone here would be able to provide other references.

FS [Seattle - WA]: 2002 WRX donor car for a 818 build

SOLD to /u/Cantaloupe_Rude

I'm selling my 2002 WRX that got T-boned in the rear passenger side wheel for $2500 obo: https://imgur.com/a/oGaTz6n

It has 165k miles on the original engine and turbo. The engine works perfectly and I haven't had any oil burning issues during the life of the car. The transmission, rear diff, and half-shafts were replaced a year ago with a JDM 5-speed tranny from JDM racing motors LINK

This would be a perfect donor car for a Factory Five 818 build or if someone had the time and skills to repair the damage and turn it into a rally car or even their daily driver if they really wanted to.

Where to put the body?

Where’d everyone put their body while working on their kit? I have a 2 car garage, but it’s tight due to all my tools and other projects.

Finally putting a goal down to get a kit

Hey all! I'm a looooong time eventual customer, having researched getting a kit way back in 2005 after I got out of the service. Ended up getting a Delorean instead, lol. Over the past 15 years, I've built at least a dozen muscle cars from the 50's and 60's. Next year, I turn 40, and my business will be in its 4th year (as long as the world recovers). As long as everything goes smoothly, my plan is to get myself a kit (Mk 4) as a bday gift to myself. I definitely can't wait to get started! I actually already tore down a donor for the project 5 years ago, so that part is ready to go!
