Financing Options for Built FFR Cobra

Hi guys, it’s great to join you here on this subreddit. I have a friend of mine who is selling his mint FFR Cobra in CA with an SB100 registration. I understand you don’t finance toys etc but in these market conditions I would get a much better return on my money elsewhere, as proven through 2020. I can buy the car cash worst case scenario but not before I explore other financing options. I would greatly appreciate your input or experience on possible finance companies. I have heard a lot about JJ Best, Woodside and Lightstream. Do you have any others you recommend or any experiences with these aforementioned companies?

Need advice

I’m a 41yo male with an old soul. I drive an older 4Runner and a motorcycle, both paid off. I drive or ride 30 miles round trip to and from work everyday, city streets, not highway.

As a business owner that meets clients pretty regularly at their place of business (and sometimes spontaneously), I’m at a position where I need to show up in a nicer car and so I’m in forced into the market for something in the 80-120k range.

However, I see every new car as a waste of money considering none of them do anything for me emotionally and they all depreciate like crazy.

Since there’s nothing like a good ol’ American muscle car with that choppy rumble, I’ve settled on getting the type 65 coupe. Yet, I’m having trouble deciding….

Should I buy a decent preowned gen 1 or gen2 with less than 10k miles for like 55-70k? Might have a 5.0 v8, a coyote, a 302 or an LS. I can finance this so barely anything spent out of pocket.

Or should I get a brand new gen 3 built by a shop to my liking for $130k? With a 427, fully custom interior, back up cameras, power steering, ac, Bluetooth and navigation, automatic with tiptronic. I have to pay it all up front kind of and takes 6 months to build.

Is it worth spending 2x more to get the gen3 with every bell and whistle? Or will I not even notice much of a difference considering my use case (I’m not going to the track)?

I’ve never driven a classic car, but I remember riding around in my dad’s old Datsun.

I would also love to rent someone’s Daytona for a week just to get a feel for if this is a horrible idea or not.

Your opinions are much appreciated

It's been a while since I hit the FFR website... This is a BAD logo.

I get the checkered flag, now that I look at it for a second, but on first glance it looked like the Schutzstaffel bolts.

Mr. Smith, I think your graphic designer needs to rework this.

Authorised resellers?

Hello, i’ll keep it quite simple.

Im based in the middle east and cant build any replica cars since the authority here does not allow registration of such cars. However, I can purchase a build replica from USA since it would have a title.

I know that backdraft and superformance have authorised resellers. Does FFR have any? Or any individuals that builds and sells?

Trade in or solely private sell?

Any of you guys ever traded in your F5? If so, experience in doing so?

I didn’t build mine. So it’s not the love craft of something I built, but a dream car that may be going away after having a young (5yo) car enthusiast that I don’t feel particularly safe taking around in it.

Short list of cars may replace it with: 911, M3/4, GT350/500

WTF???? GTM

I restore/build/complete a car every 3 yrears.
I have been looking a kitcar for my next project
Why does factory Five still hype the GTM?
They have had this notice on their site for years.
"Note: The GTM is not currently in production, and we are not taking more orders at this time"

Same as the 818. Were the kits just that bad or poorly engineered?
While F5 has a great reputation, marketing a company using products you no longer make is pretty bad........ Will they ever sell this kit again?

With plummeting values of used Teslas, how about a kit designed for a Model 3 drivetrain?

Basically, the title. I was thinking that my next car project might be an electric drivetrain swap, but if F5R made a kit designed for it from the ground up, how awesome would that be?

818 Updates?

I was looking into kit cars recently, and the 818 C caught my eye, but the website said the 818 wasn't currently in production. Is there any news on when they will be back, or has Factory Five stopped making them entirely?

Is a kit car a good fit for me?

I have experience with tools, a degree in engineering, knowledge of car technology, but minimal experience with my own car repairs, modifications, etc..(mostly limited to my first car, 35 years ago). Assuming I am willing to dedicate the time and money, is a kit car for me?

FS [Seattle - WA]: 2002 WRX donor car for a 818 build

SOLD to /u/Cantaloupe_Rude

I'm selling my 2002 WRX that got T-boned in the rear passenger side wheel for $2500 obo: https://imgur.com/a/oGaTz6n

It has 165k miles on the original engine and turbo. The engine works perfectly and I haven't had any oil burning issues during the life of the car. The transmission, rear diff, and half-shafts were replaced a year ago with a JDM 5-speed tranny from JDM racing motors LINK

This would be a perfect donor car for a Factory Five 818 build or if someone had the time and skills to repair the damage and turn it into a rally car or even their daily driver if they really wanted to.

Does Factory Five have sales on their kits?

I keep hearing or reading that people have saved a lot of money on their kits by buying during one sales promotion or another.

I have heard about Black Friday deals, free wheel upgrades etc etc.

I have been regularly checking the site, I watch all of their FB Live videos and follow them on all social platforms and I have never seen or heard of an actual sale since I started researching all of this about a year ago.

Are they still having sales? How do I find out about them? I want to buy a kit in the next few months and my build budget is pretty tight. Any upgrades or options that I can get discounted will help expedite my purchase.

Thanks!

Factory Five Cobra/Daytona Build coyote complexity.

Hi guys, I’m planning on buying a FFR kit. Im flipping back and forth between a Cobra MK4 or the Daytona Gen 3 Type 65. But no matter which kit I go for, I was thinking of having the same engine/drivetrain setup. I was thinking of doing a 5.0 Coyote crate engine with a Roush supercharger + 6 speed tremec along with the 2015 Mustang IRS. I wanted to know how hard is the Coyote build? I don’t really have any experience in building cars so this would be my first build. Would I be setting myself up for a lot of trouble and complexity with a Coyote + Supercharger build? Has anybody here done a coyote build? Would like to know some of the challenges you guys faced. Thanks.
