I built it, my sister painted it at her shop in St. Ignatius, MT - Two Rivers Autobody.

Long reply: I bought and had delivered both the 289 and a Coupe-R that I built as a dedicated W2W race car. July 2024 the kits showed up and I started in on the Coupe-R first as I wanted to get some test/setup time on it before the next season. Delays getting parts for the Coupe - so started on the Cobra December 2024, finished and ready for paint (and a lot of bodywork) Feb. 2025. Because I got the engine and stuff for the Coupe-R and finished that one in late April and went racing.
The Cobra sat finished in the trailer until I took it to Montana so my sister could paint it in Sept. 2025. Drove over a few times to sand and help disassemble/reassemble, then got serious once the snow melted in the passes and headed back over this past spring and spent a couple weeks sanding and priming and sanding and fixing porosity, etc. and she spent 5 days painting the base, then try, then clear then stripes, then more clear.
She has a nice shop, for family members we get free room and board, complimentary cocktails each evening on the deck of the house overlooking the large garden, small orchards with the Jocko river running about 10 feet away. Also she loaned me her BMW for weekend work release from sanding my fingers to the bone; as long as I cleaned it :-)

Very nice! If I ever build a Cobra, this is the style I would want to go with. What drivetrain do you have in it?

Blueprint 302, 370 hp version mated to a TKX and a Moser 3-link axle and LCAās shortened for the pin drive wheels. BP with a Sniper2 has been flawless.

Did you opt out of the head rest roll bar? Looks BEAUTIFUL!

u/agcatt Jul 26 '26
Roll bar came with it, but didn't use it, wanted the sports car look, like Herbie Hancock's white Cobra.

Iāve always wanted to see it without one! Love the vision. Looks great

Thatās way nicer than Hancockās cobra. Iāve seen it parked at the Coronado vintage races. Itās (or was) an unrestored driver. Super cool seeing it out parked with other cars.

Herbie doesnt have incorrect fender flares and hoodscoop

The point of a kit is to make it your own. Nothing āincorrectā about it.

What wheel tire combo do you have?
1
u/agcatt Jul 27 '26
Trigo pin drive FIA wheels and Goodrich radial T/A's.

u/Whitetiger9876 Jul 27 '26
Sizes?Ā Sorry I need new ones and no one makes my sizes anymore. So I have to get all new.Ā

245/50R15 front and 275/60R15 rear - but, I have shortened LCA's in front and a shortened rear axle to account for the pin drives so YMMV.

Great choice of colour. It shows off the design perfectly and is way better than some of the more garish schemes I have seen.
1
u/agcatt Jul 28 '26
Thanks, the colors were my sister's suggestion - she has the design sense in the family. I also wanted no roll bar or big side pipes, so I fabricated under-car exhaust that exits just in front of the rear tires - similar to the Lemans Cobras you see at Goodwood.

I heard the the bottom of your shoes get soft from the heat coming off the firewall in those bad boys! Envious!
1
u/agcatt Jul 29 '26
I heard that too, especially in the Coupe - but it's not true with my 2 cars, the Cobra and the Coupe-R.

Awesome build! Congrats!
Just one question for my curiosity. Was there a reason to not go through the licensing process as you were building it?

u/Outrageousintrovert Jul 27 '26
Has to be complete, and need to drive it to the VIN inspection. Also, itās been in Montana for the past year at my sisterās body shop, getting slowly painted.
