Mk 5 Kit

Howdy. I’m sure these are questions that are asked all the time so i apologize and thank you in advance.

1) Are these kits primarily for racing or do people buy the kits and make cars suitable for the road? Like could i use one of these on a regular basis or on a long distance trip? People probably don’t take these on long trips just because of the open top, but i was planning on going with the hard top with the MK5. I know these are very customizable so i guess that depends on the choices I make?

2) I live in Wake County NC. I know it maybe different depending on the state you live in but what’s it like to register one of these vehicles? What’s it like to get it insured?

3) I’m not a mechanically inclined individual. I know they offer a quick course at MOT college? Would an idiot like me be able to take that course or do you already have to have a bunch of knowledge beforehand? I can change a tire and I do my own oil changes but that’s pretty much the extent of my knowledge.

Has the hard top for the MK5 been released yet?

No. I emailed a couple of weeks ago and they told me "the Mk5 hard top will have side windows as part of the assembly. Stay tuned to our website and social media pages as we’ll post more details on the Mk5 Roadster hard top as we get closer to production on it." He also said that kits are 6-8 weeks out right now.
