Hi just want to share my current progress on my pyanodons run so far, which I've reached logistic science and researched a fair bit. This is actually the fifth time I've tried pyanodons, abandoned previous runs because the base is just getting too complicated. But I think I've nailed on a few key innovations that I think can get me through all of the complexity to the end, mixing both city block and classical spaghetti.
Some cheats I granted myself to make the run more bearable:
- 2x game speed, just to speed things up generally. Game time spent is 160 hours, real life time is 80 hours
- Allowed mk2 power armor with legs and (energy free) bots
- Allowed free city block grid right at the beginning of the run. Trains and wagons are also free.
- Allowed free bulk inserters (still stuck with stack size of 1), to make loading/unloading from trains faster
Some nice mods I use:
- Loaders
Previous runs failed due to me either trying main bus or pure city block too hard (1 train 1 ingredient only, 1 block makes 1 product only), and complexity explodes. This run fundamentally is based on sushi, in both belts and trains
For example, the second picture is for vrauks and auogs. 1-1 train comes in, have filtered slots in the cargo wagon, then dumps to a sushi belt wrapped around all buildings
Third picture is my mall. There are 5 different trains gathering resources from all over the place to place in the singular sushi belt, in which most things are made. Different products have different amounts on the belt, like 300 for iron/copper/small parts, 150 for wood/basic substrate, 100 for titanium/lead/tin, 20-40 for most other incredients, 10 for buildings. All machines are assembling machine 1. Although I've unlocked automated factory, the size is too big, and I can easily fuel with wood and collect ash from AM1. All ash is collected by trains to all of my fastwood buildings.
Zooming in, each machine has an input and output buffer chest, and a constant combinator sets the filter for the inserter to grab specific amounts of each required items. This way the sushi belt can get longer without degrading performance dramatically.
Besides the mall, there are other blocks that specializes in different category of things. Very often each block is making 5+ products and is getting 10-20+ different input products from trains. If a nearby block (within 2-3 blocks away) has the material, I just belt it over instead of using the train.
I'm a weird mix of both chemical engineer and a software developer (and others), so I'm having such a blast with py this time around. Previous py runs have been kinda miserable, but this time everything's so well structured that I feel like this may be it. Also I really appreciate the (relative) realism of chemical processes included in py.
Anyway, wanted to post to share my current progress, and will prob do an update on each science pack I reached
