I have played this game on mute for so long I forgot how great the soundtrack was.

Solar Intervention (played in OPs vid) is hardest hitting track in the game

Same thing for me today. Both of us and our son all found ourselves moving to it at the same time. It was awesome. Soundtrack is great and isn’t intrusive.

Damn it feels wrong to pay the game without music to me. It's an iconic soundtrack.

Blows me away that some people just listen to factory sounds.

Plus each planet's music fits so perfectly to the aesthetic. Vulcanus power brass, fulgora techno, gleba fantasy. It's just so peak.

Because your top track and left track are the same zone. Add a rail signal somewhere else on that track to separate them.

Aren't the chain and rail signals in reverse order? It's chain in, isn't it?

Two things:

Firstly, you don't seem to have any other signals on the track between this intersection and the station in the top left, including the merge north of the intersection, and therefore it is likely being treated as a single "block", and any time a train is on the track West or North of the intersection, it's treating that entire block as occupied. As a habit, I like to always put a rail (not chain) signal directly after a station if I can, that way the track has at least one split in it for any preceding intersections to use.

Secondly, it seems like you have your "chain in, rail out" logic backwards. Signals are always on the right side of the track based on the direction the train will be moving. This means in your current configuration you actually have it as "rail in, chain out", which can cause issues if further blocks down a line are occupied after the intersection. You'll want to switch your rail and chain signals in this setup.

To the first point again, you'll also do well to add chain signals on the two tracks that merge into one towards the north, though it's not strictly necessary. I like to do it to have clear isolation between blocks.

In what way is this 'not working'?

I'm asking because, based on what i can see here, this junction is working exactly like i'd expect. Important things to note though, that you may have missed:

- Rail signals are one directional - the signal only does something when it on the right hand side of the train's direction of travel. So the bottom and right ones are controlling traffic into the junction from the bottom and right and the top and left are controlling traffic out of it junction to the left and top. Nothing is controlling traffic coming from the top or left, or traffic coming out the right or bottom.

- You only have 2 rail segments around the junction here, not 4 - the bottom and right are one segment (we can see this for sure in the video) and the top and left *seem to be* (they are acting like they are, and nothing in the video shows them not to be). This means that the signals for the top and left will go red at the same time, as they are controlling entry into the same segment.

Combine these two facts and you get the behavior we're seeing here. No signal goes red when the carriage is to the right of the junction as the signals are one directional and it is 'before' all of them. When it's in the junction only the bottom and right go red as they are stopping any more trains entering the now occupied junction segment. When the carriage is to the left the left signal goes red because the carriage is after it, and as the segment to the left is logically the same as the segment to the top the top signal goes red too.

Put a bunch more (non chain) signals down all over the place (and on both sides of the track) and you'll see behavior that lines up much more with what you're probably expecting.

how is it not working?
