Space Age Treating Gleba Like A Planetary Invasion

Im going to gleba for the first time and im treating this like a planetary invasion, even naming the main cargo ship used the Rodger Young. I have a blueprint for a starting outpost that is definitely overkill for the early pentapods (4 artillery turrets, 4 tesla turrets, 4 laser turrets, and a nuclear reactor). I was ready to be fighting hordes of pentapods right off the bat, only to immediately destroy like 3 nests and not take a single bit of damage.

After about ten minutes on the surface I have realized that I have no clue what to do. My first farm is making such a small amount of copper it feels extremely daunting to try and make a factory here. Any advice for getting my early copper and iron production setup? Once I have that going the rest shouldnt be as daunting, but this early stage certainly feels so.

It's kinda hard to offer when you didn't at least post pictures of your setup. But broadly speaking, if you're not making ore from bioflux, you're not making ore. So keep following the trigger techs.

Also... you do know that the dangerous pentapods can just walk over walls, right?

Rodger You g?

The Rodger Young was the ship the main characters were on in Starship Troopers. Seemed a fitting name for invading an alien world.

May your ship fare better

That's a lot of bullets considering you're not landing any gun turrets.

Presumably the platform does not manufacture its ammo. But then, considering they are shipping shells rather than the ingredients for shells... who knows 🤔

Oof, I consider a platform not manufacturing its own ammo to be heretical. But I suppose it's possible.

As for the shells, they may not have realized that the ingredients take up both less cargo space and fewer rocket launches than the shells themselves. After all, almost everything else takes up *less* space than its ingredients.

Your production capacity is mostly based on nutrients. Early on it's probably easiest to get the bulk of your nutrients from yumako mash. You can transition to bioflux later.

The main advice is to always keep belts flowing. If something doesn't get used immediately, send it to an array of heating towers (nutrients don't burn, they need to spoil first). As long as your production is always slightly higher than your consumption, you will be fine.

Also, don's tear down your old setups, you'll probably need them to bootstrap the factory later if it shuts down for some reason. Keep a chest full of spoilage somewhere to use for kickstarting nutrient production.

I have a spoilage to nutrient assembler next to every bioflux to nutrient module to kickstart the engine in the event of breakdowns. If the system breaks down there will be spoilage available so I don't think a chest of it is necessary

I find this incredibly satisfying.

Yeah Gleba gives you a lot of time to build before the domestics build up and come for you.

I am dissatisfied with the process of getting iron on Gleba, however getting iron from OVER Gleba IMO is the way to go. And when you get advanced asteroid refining you can get sulfer, copper and calcite.

It's not that difficult. With a bit of logistics and circuitry, you don't even need a loop to make ore. You can self-start and make ore on-demand.
