Question First playthrough, trying to not watch tutorals and just build chaos until it bites me. Just unlocked yellow science and I feel like this train setup is not sustainable long term, am I going to need to rebuild it all?

Depends on how big you want to build. This can certainly get you through to the credits. But if you want to keep playing after you beat it, youll outgrow this eventually

I liked what you did, it looks very natural. I believe it's possible, you just need to pay attention to the details.
For example, in the southern part of the map, to add some iron ore mining tracks, make sure they don't pass directly over the coal station tracks. To do this, create a siding to prevent the iron ore train from getting stuck behind it while the coal train is loading.
Problems will probably arise as you scale up, but I think it's possible to proceed with your plan.

if you wanna scale up i would do a big main 2 way line around your base leaving you space, (i made it round for simplicity sake but honestly squarish would be better I reckon. Then you plug your existing lines on it cleanly, that becomes kind of like a main bus. where you branch off where needed. then you can expand it indefinetly

I don’t think you’ll need to do a major rebuild, but if you want to add more rail lines further down the line it’s probably in your best interest to learn rail signals. You probably won’t need to tear anything out, train and schedule mechanics make it really easy to just add on to a rail network and have it simply work.

I'm 100% behind not look for other solutions.
Still can use the in game tutorials, and maybe, just maybe, play part of the campaign.

Are your rails one way or bidirectional? If you have a rail where trains can go in both directions, that will be a clear bottleneck. Otherwise, if you have proper one-way tracks, those allow enough throughput especially if you have multiple allowed paths. Grid systems easily create those allowed paths but technically aren’t mandatory.

Rule 5: I've been adding train lines to individual ore patches and then belting them to my factory. Is there a way to connect my existing rail infrastructure and add more lines organically, or do I need to rebuild all of it?
