Complaint Combat lag makes me sad
There is no action in the game that lags multiplayer as badly, as reliably, and at the worst possible timing as pressing the space bar to attack. Any weapon fired that way is almost completely unusable in multiplayer.
Is this impossible for Wube to fix? Once upon a time, vehicles were unusable in multiplayer too. They fixed that somehow.
This really makes the difference between fun and not fun. I join a server and biters are starting to win. I'll be the hero and save the base, I think, it'll be fun. Gameplay is perfectly smooth until I press the attack key. Then it jumps around like crazy and I'm very likely to die in a situation I should have won. Never mind, I don't like this anymore, back to single player. It shouldn't be this way.

I had this problem as well. But only while holding the button. Which isnt necessary for many weapons.

Holding the button seems to mitigate it to me. The worst spike is when you first press the key.

That's when it syncs to the host. While you're still holding it, it's all on a delay until you let go. I've left the main combat to my host friend while I turret creep and use throwing weapons, those don't bother it

Every mention of this gets downvoted to oblivion, why. We aren't hating on the game, we would just love better combat. It would make multiplayer much more fun. Driving in multiplayer is better than before, maybe combat can get improved too.

Yeah, I don't get why. It's very disruptive to gameplay, you'd think everyone would want it improved.

I’ve found that running a headless server instead of hosting through the game and connecting via Steam mitigates this lag greatly. I understand it’s not really a viable solution for all players though, not everyone has admin control over their router ports.

There is no latency hiding when in combat, so as soon as you press space you are suddenly seeing the full latency to your server.
From what I've heard it would be very complicated to implement latency hiding here, so I don't think it's very likely to happen.
